Tom Brady’s daughter Vivian starred in his Tremendous Bowl MVP speech

Tom Brady was staged during his own special moment at the end of Super Bowl LV, but he definitely didn’t seem to mind.

The legendary quarterback won his seventh record-breaking NFL championship on Sunday, February 7, when he led the underdog Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a surprising 31-9 win Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs at Raymond James Stadium.

Tom was then honored with his fifth Super Bowl MVP title for his three touchdown performance, but it was his 8-year-old daughter Vivian Who was the real star of the after-game celebration?

CBS aired footage of the clearly enthusiastic girl playing during the Vince Lombardi Trophy presentation, and sometimes she would take confetti off the stage and toss it to her brothers. Tom and wife Gisele Bündchen share Vivian and 11 year old son Benjaminand Tom shares the 13 year old son Jack with ex Bridget Moynahan.

International warming could have began in 1825 – watts with that?

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

h / t tallbloke; According to researchers in the Paracel Islands, the modern warming period began in 1825 before anthropogenic CO2 could potentially have an impact on the global climate.

Climate change: Global warming could have started before the industrial revolution, according to a Chinese study

Studies of coral reefs in the Paracel Islands suggest that the South China Sea began to warm in 1825. According to researchers, uranium dating has shown samples to have a continuous climate record that dates back to 1520

Studies of coral reefs in the Paracel Islands suggest that the South China Sea began to warm at the beginning of the industrial revolution in 1825, according to a study by Chinese scientists.

That year the world’s first railroad opened in England, and most of the ocean-going vessels were still using wind power.

Man-made carbon dioxide emissions might not fully explain such an early rise in the warming trend, said a peer-reviewed article published in Quaternary Sciences on Friday.

The Paracel coral record “will fill some important gaps in high-resolution global marine environmental records and help us better understand the history of environmental change in tropical waters,” said researchers, led by Tao Shichen of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology.

I can’t find a link to the study. If someone finds one, please post in the comments.

The Paracel Islands, like the better-known Spratly Islands, are a contested area in the South China Sea and a potential future geopolitical hotspot.

If Tao Shichen’s team is correct, this study complements evidence that modern warming has a significant natural forcing component.

How a Chiefs coach saved Patrick Mahomes, Tremendous Bowl 55 from the COVID-19 haircut catastrophe

Patrick Mahomes stood in line for a haircut, not a commercial in real life. And if the timing wasn’t so good, the Chiefs quarterback might have been a question mark for Super Bowl 55.

That’s because the Kansas City barber tested positive for COVID-19 the week before the Super Bowl. He had already cut Demarcus Robinson’s hair and part of Daniel Kilgores, so the backup recipient and offensive lineman were placed on the COVID-19 / reserve list for contact tracking purposes. But no Chiefs tested positive for COVID-19 in the final week of the NFL season, in part due to a coach’s quick thinking.

Here’s how haircuts played such an important role in preparing the Chiefs for a possible Super Bowl replay.

MORE: How many teams have won Super Bowls in a row?

Chief’s haircut explains COVID-19 problems

Demarcus Robinson, a broad recipient, had his hair cut off the team facility on Saturday by the same barber who would cut about 20 Kansas City player and staff heads the next day, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Kilgore was the first in the chair on Sunday.

The Chiefs had pre-tested the barber, knew it would give those final haircuts and wanted to make sure no one ended up with COVID-19. The barber returned negative tests five days in a row before Sunday, January 31.

Before Sunday’s haircuts, Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder gave the barber a quick COVID-19 test, according to Fox’s Jay Glazer. It took a while for the results to come in, but they came back positive while Kilgore was still in the chair.

At this point, the Chiefs ruled out the possibility of further haircuts that day. Robinson and Kilgore would have to take five consecutive negative tests before getting back on the team, but everyone in line would be clear.

According to Schefter, Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes was in line waiting for a haircut.

Are any Super Bowl 55 chiefs for haircuts?

Daniel Kilgore and Demarcus Robinson are both officially active for Super Bowl 55. They had to quarantine themselves for five days and each test negative after their risky close contact with the hairdresser on Sunday January 31st.

With the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 7, a week later, Robinson and Kilgore rejoined the team before the weekend to fly to Tampa. Kilgore is a backup offensive lineman while Robinson is a situational receiver.

During the week, no other Kansas City players were considered high-risk close ties. All players had COVID-19 tests twice a day during the week leading up to the Super Bowl, and no players were put on the COVID-19 list before Super Bowl 55. Anyone who started their week in good health enough to play is active as if you were for both the Chiefs and the Buccaneers.

Yellen says the U.S. might return to full employment subsequent yr when the reduction is over

Outgoing Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen holds a press conference following a two-day meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) on December 13, 2017 in Washington, USA.

Jonathan Ernst | Reuters

The US could return to full employment in 2022 if President Joe Biden’s $ 1.9 trillion coronavirus bailout package passes, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Sunday.

“There’s absolutely no reason why we should have a long, slow recovery,” Yellen said during an interview on CNN’s State of the Union. “I would expect to get full employment again next year when this package is passed.”

Long-term unemployment is nearing a historic high almost a year after the pandemic began. Almost 40% of the unemployed have been unemployed for six months, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Friday. Almost 9 million Americans are now working fewer than last February. The unemployment rate fell to 6.3% in January.

The unemployment rate triggered by pandemics will remain increased in the coming years without further support from the federal government, said Yellen, citing an analysis by the budget office of the Congress. Without additional incentives, it could take until 2025 for the unemployment rate to fall back to 4%.

Yellen also said that former Obama economic adviser Larry Summer’s concerns about Biden’s stimulus package, which carries inflationary risks, are minor compared to economic damage caused by insufficient economic support during the pandemic. The US “has the tools to deal with inflation risk,” Yellen said.

Democrats in Congress have decided to pass the stimulus plan within two weeks without support from the GOP. A parliamentary process known as reconciliation was used.

The plan is the first of two major spending initiatives Biden is pursuing and includes provisions like direct payments to Americans, weekly unemployment benefits through September, and funding for vaccines and tests. The second bill will focus on infrastructure reforms, climate change and racial justice, among other things.

“We have people who are suffering … through no fault of their own,” said Yellen. “We have to get them to the other side and make sure it doesn’t take a permanent toll on their lives.”

Republicans have opposed the price of the proposal, calling for a lowering of the income limit for receiving the full direct payment of $ 1,400. However, Yellen signaled that she was reluctant to lower the income cap to $ 50,000.

“When you think of an elementary school teacher or cop who makes $ 60,000 a year and faces children who are out of school and people who may have had to retire to care for them. .. [Biden] thinks, and I would certainly agree, that it is appropriate that the people there receive support, “said Yellen.

Senator Patrick Toomey, R-Pa., Said Sunday that the economy had “roared back” and called Biden’s stimulus plan “inappropriately” since Congress passed an aid package in December.

“We have tens of billions of dollars that haven’t made it out the door because the ink is barely dry on the last bill,” Toomey told CNN.

Electrons may be accelerated to close the pace of sunshine once they work together with the Earth’s magnetosphere

Electrons serve many purposes in physics. They are used by some particle accelerators and support our modern world in the silicon chips that power the world’s computers. They are also common in space, where they occasionally float around in a plasma in the magnetospheres of planets. A team from the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) headed by Dr. Hayley Allison and Yuri Shprits have now found that the electrons present in the magnetosphere can be accelerated to relativistic speeds and that this could potentially be dangerous for our growing orbital infrastructure.

The team carried out their analysis using data from the Van Allen probes, two satellites that measured Earth’s Van Allen radiation belt, a region of energetically charged particles caused by the solar wind. These radiation belts are present on any planet with a magnetosphere, although Earth is the most widely studied. Although the probes were decommissioned in 2019, their data are still available for scientific studies. New machine learning techniques, including those used by the GFZ team, can now also be applied to the data from the probes.

UT video about the idea of an artificial magnetosphere.

One thing that the Van Allen probes examined was the plasma that was generated in the radiation belts. The GFZ team found that electrons only reach relativistic speeds when very low plasma levels are present. After observing this, the team developed a model using the low plasma levels observed in the data and found that such a low plasma density creates near-ideal conditions for an electron to accelerate.

In the world of electrons, plasma can act a bit like water – a dampening force that is much harder for an electron to push through. Without plasma, the magnetosphere can continue to exert a force on the electron that further accelerates it to near relativistic speeds.

The magnetic field and electrical currents in and around the earth create complex forces that have an immeasurable impact on daily life.

This is particularly important because of the threat that such relativistic electrons can pose to satellites and other orbital infrastructures. At such high speeds, almost no shielding can stop them, and if they hit critical electronics they could potentially cripple a system. Engineers who design systems for space know the potential danger and design systems so that there is not a single point of failure, whether or not they are hit by a relativistic electron. However, knowing the likelihood of such a problem can help you improve the system design.

Right now, this is the best that scientists and engineers can hope for – explaining the consequences of relativistic electrons on their equipment. However, further studies by the GFZ team and others could lead to different forecasting or mitigation techniques. There is still a lot of data to analyze, not least thanks to non-relativistic electrons.

These self-sufficient robots can have “infants” and colonize distant planets

It has been suggested that an advance group of robots is needed if humans are ever to settle on other planets. These robots must be robust, adaptable, and recyclable to survive in the inhospitable cosmic climates that await them.

In collaboration with robotics and computer scientists, my team and I worked on such a set of robots. The robots we manufacture are made using a 3D printer and assembled autonomously. They are constantly evolving to adapt quickly to the conditions in which they are found.

Our work represents the latest advances towards autonomous robotic ecosystems that could help build the future homes of humanity far from Earth and far from human oversight.

Robots soar

Robots have come a long way since our first awkward forays into artificial motion many decades ago. Companies like Boston Dynamics today make highly efficient robots that load trucks, build pallets and move boxes around factories, doing tasks that you might think only humans can do.

Despite these advances, the development of robots for unknown or inhospitable environments – such as exoplanets or deep-sea trenches – still represents a significant challenge for scientists and engineers. What shape and size should the ideal robot in the cosmos have? Should it crawl or run? What tools does it need to manipulate its environment – and how will it withstand extreme pressure, temperature and chemical corrosion?

[Read: How much does it cost to buy, own, and run an EV? It’s not as much as you think]

As an impossible mental exercise for humans, nature has already solved this problem. Darwinian evolution has resulted in millions of species that are perfectly adapted to their environment. Although biological evolution takes millions of years, artificial evolution – the modeling of evolutionary processes in a computer – can take place in hours or even minutes. Computer scientists have been using their power for decades and lead to gas nozzles for satellite antennas that are ideally suited for their function, for example.

However, the current artificial development of moving physical objects still requires a lot of human control and a tight feedback loop between robot and human. If artificial evolution is to design a useful robot for exoplanetary exploration, we need to put humans out of the loop. In essence, further developed robot designs have to produce, assemble and test themselves independently – independently of human supervision.

Unnatural selection

All robots that have been further developed must be able to perceive their surroundings and have various possibilities of movement – for example with the help of wheels, articulated legs or even a mixture of both. Also, in order to close the inevitable reality void that occurs when translating a design from software to hardware, it is desirable that at least some hardware development take place – within an ecosystem of robots that are evolving Real time and real space.

The Autonomous Robot Evolution (ARE) project is addressing just that, bringing together scientists and engineers from four universities in an ambitious four-year project to develop this radical new technology.

As shown above, robots are “born” with the help of 3D manufacturing. We’re using a new type of hybrid Hardware software evolutionary architecture for design. That means every physical robot has a digital clone. Physical robots are tested in for performance real world Environments as their digital clones enter a software program in which they go through a rapid simulated evolution. This hybrid system introduces a new kind of evolution: New generations can arise from a union of the most successful characteristics of a virtual “mother” and a physical “father”.

“Children’s” robots manufactured using our hybrid evolution are not only rendered in our simulator, but also printed in 3D and introduced in a real world, Crèche-like environment. The most successful people in this physical training center make their “genetic code” available for reproduction and improvement for future generations, while less “fit” robots can simply be dragged away and recycled into new ones as part of an ongoing evolutionary cycle.

Significant progress has been made two years after the start of the project. From a scientific point of view, we have developed new artificial evolutionary algorithms that have spawned a multitude of robots that can drive or crawl and learn to navigate complex mazes. These algorithms develop both the robot’s body plan and brain.

The brain contains a controller that determines how the robot moves, interprets sensory information from the environment and converts this into motor controls. Once the robot is built, a learning algorithm quickly refines the child’s brain to account for possible mismatches between their new body and their inherited brain.

From a technical point of view, we developed the “RoboFab” to completely automate production. This robotic arm attaches wires, sensors and other “organs” chosen by evolution to the 3D printed chassis of the robot. We designed these components to allow for quick assembly and to give RoboFab access to a large toolbox of robot limbs and organs.

Garbage disposal

The first major use case we’d like to address is using this technology to develop robots for cleaning up old waste in a nuclear reactor – like in the TV miniseries Chernobyl. Using humans to do this job is both dangerous and expensive, and the necessary robotic solutions have yet to be developed.

Looking ahead, the long-term vision is to develop the technology sufficiently to enable the development of entire autonomous robotic ecosystems that live and work in challenging and dynamic environments for long periods of time without the need for direct human supervision.

In this radically new paradigm, robots are designed and born rather than designed and manufactured. Such robots will fundamentally change the concept of machines and present a new breed that can change shape and behavior over time – just like us.

Stephen Curry’s 57 factors are inadequate for Golden State Warriors as Luka Doncic and Dallas Mavericks retire late

Stephen Curry, Star Guard of the Golden State Warriors, put together a vintage performance on Saturday night, at which head coach Steve Kerr raved: “He’s never played better.”

It wasn’t enough to get past Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.

Despite 57 points and 11 3-pointers from Curry, the visiting warriors 134-132 fell to the Mavs, who received 42 points and 11 assists from Doncic.

The defeat didn’t stop Kerr or even Doncic raving about Curry, who dominated the whole game, finishing 19:31 from the field and 11:19 from outside the arch in 37 minutes.

“Sublime,” said Kerr. “The shots he hit was ridiculous. The difficulty. The ease with which he took them. He’s never played better. We’re talking about a two-time MVP, a three-time champion – I’ve never seen it.” He looks like it. He just looks so strong to me.

“He’s obviously always been an incredible shooter, but he looks stronger to me, he just passes people, fends them off on drives to the edge and ends. And of course the shooting is almost unfathomable what he’s doing out there.”

Doncic put on a show of his own, walking 12:23 from the field and 7:12 from the depths of victory, but the young security guard was still impressed with the performance Curry put on as he hit shots from all over the ground.

“Every time he shot the ball I thought he was coming in,” Doncic said in a post-game interview with ESPN.

Curry, who overtook Reggie Miller as second on the list of 3-pointers two weeks ago, continues to collect shooting numbers. Saturday’s performance marked the 40th time in Curry’s 12-year career that he had at least 40 points in a game and the eighth time that he had at least 50 points. It was also the 16th time Curry got 10 or more 3 points in a competition.

After knocking down a 3-pointer, who was near the Mavericks logo in midfield in the first half, Curry broke out his famous shimmy, a celebratory move that marked some of the greatest moments of his career. He added five assists, two rebounds, and two steals in one night as the Mavericks repeatedly tossed additional defenders on his path to try to slow his swing.

When asked about Kerr’s assessment that he played the best basketball of his career, Curry reiterated that he felt his body was in a great place as he was dealing with more defenders every night. He said he believed he could handle the extra bodies that came his way this season.

“I feel strong,” said Curry. “I feel like I have a good rhythm. And of course I enjoy being out there and being healthy again after last year. So I’m definitely in control of my game and learning with my team while we play it keep trying.” and get better and build some momentum this season. It’s been a strange year. I play well and we get better as a team. We just have to stack those victories and then we can all feel a little bit better about ourselves. “

Curry’s goal break comes just over a month after hitting a career high of 62 points in a home win against the Portland Trail Blazers on Jan. 3.

“I don’t know if it’s harder to play basketball right now than Steph Curry,” said Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle, “because of the different game effects and his uncanny ability to take shots from anywhere.” It’s easy to get discouraged when a guy gets 30 foot shots in your face and all that stuff, and our guys just hung out and figured out a way to win it. “

The guardian of the warriors, Kent Bazemore, praised Curry on 57 points.

“Best basketball player right now,” said Bazemore. “It’s unreal. Brad Wanamaker and I were on the bench just wondering how happy we are to see this, and then two of how effortless it is.

“When you’re in the heat and a guy has no conscience, just pull out of 40 feet, it’s amazing. It’s amazing. You have to be there.”

Curry has long said that he feels like every shot he takes goes in; But on nights like this when most of his shots are actually fired, he knows that it is difficult for any team to stop him.

“It feels great,” said Curry, “especially when there were some hard looks depending on when the defense was watching you. But for the most part, I could see where the help was coming from – and where it was from.” Screens came from – and come to my posts. So that’s always a good feeling when you feel like you are in a rhythm and just need a clean look and things are about to fall. But you can also stay aggressive and don’t let this rhythm get you out of the way.

“So it was that kind of night – and obviously wanted to win. It’s mixed feelings right now.”

Wie vermeide ich eine Klimakatastrophe? Der Invoice Gates Means – macht das klar?

Reposted von Forbes

Tilak Doshi Mitwirkender Energie

Aaron Rodgers broadcasts he is engaged in the course of the NFL Honors

From MVP to future husband!

Aaron Rodgers made a surprise announcement during Saturday night’s NFL Honors – he’s engaged! The news comes days after E! News reported only that Aaron and Shailene Woodley enjoy a long distance relationship.

In between, the Green Bay Packers quarterback thanked his teammates and coaches after a successful football season and announced that he had asked the question, but did not mention actress Big Little Lies by name.

“2020 was definitely a crazy year full of change, growth and amazing, unforgettable moments,” said Aaron as he accepted the 2020 Most Valuable Player award. “One hundred and eighty consecutive days of getting the hair scratched, a plan for very small fans or no stalls for the entire season, I got engaged and played one of the best football games of my career.”

Record scratches … Engaged ?!

Yes that’s true. Aaron went on to call out to the “large group of people” who supported him in the field, which of course included “my fiancée”.
