Disney has reached an agreement with its unions that all unionized employees at Walt Disney World in Florida will be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by October 22, 2021.

The move comes almost a month after Disney mandated that all of its salaried and non-union workers in the U.S. be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus by the end of September.

No agreement has been reached with unions on the west coast that look after Disneyland Resort employees.

The Service Trades Council Union, which is made up of six member unions representing about 43,000 Disney performers in Florida, said the company will host on-site vaccine events for employees over the next few weeks.

“Vaccines are safe, effective and free,” the union said in a memo to members on Monday. “As of today, the Pfizer vaccine is FDA approved and offered by the company to get rid of this deadly virus.”

On Monday, the Food and Drug Administration fully approved the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech, making it the first in the US to receive the coveted award and giving even more companies, schools and universities more confidence in accepting vaccine mandates gave.

So far, the mRNA vaccine, now marketed as Comirnaty, has been on the US market under emergency approval granted by the FDA in December.

Workers with illnesses or “sincere” religious beliefs are entitled to an exemption, the union said.

Disney considers its employees fully vaccinated if they are at least two weeks after vaccination is complete, whether after the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or after a single vaccination of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Disney has updated its safety guidelines in line with local health regulations since the pandemic began, both domestically and internationally. Most recently, the company required proof of a Covid vaccination or a negative Covid test before entering its Paris amusement park according to French guidelines.

Japan’s Mission to Phobos Will Additionally Deliver a Pattern Dwelling by 2029

Japan’s space agency (JAXA) is gearing up for its Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) mission, with plans to have a sample from Mars’ moon Phobos return to Earth by 2029.  Mission scientists say they hope to find clues to the origins of Mars two moons, as well as Mars itself, and possibly even traces of past life.

“We think that the Martian moon, Phobos, is loaded with material lifted from Mars during meteorite impacts,” the MMX team said on Twitter. “By collecting this Phobos sample, MMX will help investigate traces of Martian life and the new era of Martian habitability exploration in the 2020s will begin.”

MMX currently has a planned launch in 2024, with the spacecraft reaching the Mars system by 2025, approximately one year after leaving Earth. Current plans for the mission include an orbiter, a lander that touches down on Phobos with sample collection and return capability, and perhaps even a rover.

The orbiter will be placed in a so-called Quasi Satellite Orbit (QSO) around Phobos, to collect scientific data. After both orbital and in situ observations, and sample collection, the lander spacecraft will liftoff to return to Earth carrying the sample of material gathered from Phobos. Current plans are for the lander to collect 10 grams (0.35 ounce) of soil. In a news briefing this week, and reported by the Associated Press, JAXA scientists said that perhaps about 0.1% of the surface soil on Phobos came from Mars, and 10 grams could contain about 30 granules, depending on the consistency of the soil.

The team says their exploration of the Martian moons will help improve technology for future planet and satellite exploration. They say their mission will aid in advancements, for example, in the technology required to make round-trips between the Earth and Mars, enhanced sampling techniques and optimal communication technology using the Deep Space Network ground stations.

The objectives of the MMX mission are:

  • To investigate whether the Martian moons, Phobos and Deimos, are captured asteroids or fragments that coalesced after a giant impact with Mars, and to acquire new knowledge on the formation process of Mars and the terrestrial planets.
  • To clarify the mechanisms controlling the surface evolution of the Martian moons and Mars, and to gain new insights into the history of the Mars Sphere, including that of the Martian moons.

Sending a mission to moons of Mars has long been on the wish list for mission planners and space enthusiasts, and for the past few years, JAXA engineers and scientists have been working on putting such a mission together.

Many scientists say that studying and landing on the moons of Mars would be the next best thing to going to Mars itself.  Phobos and Deimos have been considered as places for a possible human base that would allow for easier access to Mars than going to the Red Planet directly, especially for the first human missions to the Mars system.

“Humans can realistically explore the surfaces of only a few objects and Phobos and Deimos are on that list,” NASA Chief Scientist, Jim Green said in 2020. “Their position orbiting about Mars may make them a prime target for humans to visit first before reaching the surface of the Red Planet, but that will only be possible after the results of the MMX mission have been completed.”

The mission will have international input, equipped with eleven instruments, four of which will be provided by international partners at NASA (USA), ESA (Europe), CNES (France) and DLR (Germany).

The JAXA-built instruments include a telescopic (narrow-angle) camera for observing detailed terrain, the wide-angle camera for identifying hydrated minerals and organic matter, the LIDAR laser altimeter, a dust monitor and a mass spectrum analyzer, to study the charged ions around the moons, the sampling device and sample return capsule, and a radiation environment monitor.

NASA has signed on to contribute a gamma ray and neutron spectrometer to examine the elements that constitute the Martian moons, and also a pneumatic sampling device. CNES is building a near-infrared spectrometer that can identify mineral composition, and is working with DLR to design the rover, which could explore the surface of Phobos. ESA is listed as assisting with deep space communication equipment.

The quick turnaround time for MMX’s sample return would put Japan ahead of the United States and China in bringing back samples from the Mars system, even though they started later, said MMX project manager Yasuhiro Kawakatsu in this week’s news conference.

A new paper published by JAXA’s Institute of Space and Astronautical Research proposes that if Mars was once a habitable planet, with water on the surface, the water could have been ejected into space by gigantic Martian dust storms. They say that material collected by MMX from Phobos will help confirm if this theory might be true.

USWNT star Carli Lloyd did it her personal method, retiring with sophisticated and dominant legacy

Anyone who’s been to a U.S. national team game before has probably seen it: the team has dispersed and the field is empty, except for one player. Carli Lloyd, by her lonesome, is still out there, doing push-ups or running sprints, but pretty soon, that ritual will be gone and the field will stay empty after USWNT games. Carli Lloyd, at age 39, is retiring and she will appear her final USWNT matches this fall.

– USWNT legend Lloyd announces retirement

Lloyd walks away as undoubtedly one of the most important players in the history of American soccer. With 312 appearances — second only to Kristine Lilly — and 128 goals, the fourth-most in USWNT history, chances are that if the U.S played a game in the last decade-and-a-half, Lloyd was a key part of it, leaving behind a legacy that is more complex than it seems at first glance.

It’s almost surprising to see Lloyd call it quits — it’s not something she’s ever done, so much so that such tenacity has become her personal brand. She loves sharing inspirational quotes about hard work on her social media accounts, and she has seemed to relish in defying people’s expectations just so she could say “I told you so.” There is perhaps no better example of it than the 2015 World Cup, the tournament that made her a household name and earned her the title as FIFA’s player of the year.

The USWNT started the tournament poorly, and Lloyd especially struggled with the two-way midfield role she had been given. She openly lamented feeling restricted by the tactics of coach Jill Ellis and being unable to, as she put it, express herself.

2 Related

After Ellis gave in and handed Lloyd the keys to the attack, Lloyd scored the goal against Japan that has become the piece de resistance of her career: a shot from half-field to seal a hat-trick (scored in the opening 16 minutes) in a World Cup final. In the post-game press conference of the USWNT’s 5-2 win, she told reporters she expected it. During a “burning” training session, she said, she envisioned scoring four goals in a World Cup final, one shy of her real-life tally.

Lloyd will be remembered as a winner, pure and simple. As record books become the primary point of reference, all that will be left is her sensational career, which saw her win two World Cup titles and two Olympic gold medals. Look a bit closer, though, and Lloyd’s legacy is that of a complicated and sometimes contradictory hero. A 2011 headline from her hometown newspaper — “Lloyd an exciting, if inconsistent, U.S. star” — could have been written at almost any point in her career.

For all her magic in major tournaments, pundits often derided her non-peak performances, where she was labeled “a turnover machine” and “below average.” Fans wondered, based on her non-tournament appearances, why she was even in the USWNT at all. She didn’t look like the same player in friendlies, and she never led any of her club teams to tangible success — her 2013 season with the Flash the lone exception.

Lloyd is one of the most decorated U.S. women’s players, with two Olympic gold medals in four tournament appearances, along with two Women’s World Cup trophies and two FIFA women’s player of the year awards. Atsushi Tomura/Getty Images

Coach Pia Sundhage famously benched Lloyd because of her propensity to lose possession, telling reporters before the 2012 Olympics: “It’s too big of a difference between when she’s really good and when she’s bad.” When starting midfielder Shannon Boxx was injured in the opening game of the 2012 Olympics, Sundhage’s only choice was to put Lloyd in. Suddenly, after being told she wasn’t good enough, Lloyd had a chance to defy expectations on the biggest stage and she did that, scoring in that first game against France and again to win the gold medal over Japan.

At the time, Lloyd was as defiant as always, telling reporters of Sundhage’s lack of faith: “When someone tells me I can’t do something, I’m going to always prove them wrong. That’s what champions do.”

Lloyd has earned a reputation as a big-game player, someone who will win trophies for the USWNT on her own. She did it in 2008, when she scored the game-winner in the Olympic gold medal match against Brazil. She also did it in the gold medal match of the 2012 Olympics against Japan, darting in front of Abby Wambach’s foot at one point to score, and then finding the game-winner with a rocket strike. But she also choked in the shootout of the 2011 World Cup final, skying her shot over the bar and allowing Japan to win; it’s a moment often forgotten when discussing her clutch credentials.

Dan Thomas is joined by Craig Burley, Shaka Hislop and others to bring you the latest highlights and debate the biggest storylines. Stream on ESPN+ (U.S. only).

She has claimed the critics fuel her, but the criticism clearly never sat well with her, prompting her to see criticism where there was none. In a press conference earlier this year, she called out the journalist from her local newspaper who has covered her longest, labeling him “the hometown dude that can never support me” because he dared to see it as an open question as to whether Vlatko Andonovski would bring Lloyd to the Tokyo Olympics. When other journalists wrote something she didn’t like, they found themselves blocked by her on Twitter even if they’d never tagged her.

She named her memoir “When Nobody Was Watching,” yet she has always made sure everyone was watching, sharing curated clips of her workouts on social media. After the USWNT lost to Canada in the Olympic semifinal earlier this month, she ran sprints after the game to make sure she was conditioned for the bronze medal game. But just in case anyone missed it, she took a photo from a journalist in Japan and shared it on her own Twitter account.

Such contradictions and inconsistencies in how Lloyd wants to be remembered vs. who Lloyd was as a player may have been necessary for her to reach the heights of her greatness, though.

Soccer has been a relentless act of self-improvement for Lloyd, a pursuit that requires constant effort and evolution. If success always came easy to Lloyd, how would she ever find that next level? It’s the failures and setbacks that have made Lloyd better the next time around. Sometimes, she seemingly needed to remind herself of her own greatness, too, just so she knew it was ready to be deployed. Indeed, Lloyd has not been the same player over the course of her career, not just because of the ups and downs of her performances. She has had to adapt and find new ways to elevate her game — an approach that is responsible for Lloyd’s rare and remarkable longevity.

In her late 30s, Lloyd transformed into a striker, which she said forced her to improve her off-the-ball movement and finishing. Earlier in her career, she played pretty much every role in the central midfield, where she was tasked with different duties from defending and controlling possession to playmaking. It wasn’t always a perfect match, but she almost always found a way to make it work.

Perhaps Lloyd’s most memorable moment was her hat-trick in the 2015 Women’s World Cup final to clinch it vs. Japan. Having begun the tournament as a midfielder, she ended it as the tournament’s MVP and joint-top scorer. Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images

Lloyd’s ability to redefine herself as a player is undeniable, which may be why some fans have been left wanting more from her off the field. As other USWNT players have grown into their own voices, Lloyd has refused to engage in any of the causes some of her teammates have taken up. During the Olympics when most teams (not just the USWNT) took a knee before games (not during the national anthems) in an anti-racism gesture, Lloyd stood. It seemed that Lloyd felt anything not related to winning was merely a distraction, but some fans have labeled her selfish or an unfeeling robot.

Such stubbornness is all part of the Carli Lloyd mystique, though. While she may chalk up her success to hard work and determination, her most powerful tools have always been a large chip on her shoulder and a single-minded defiance. Her drive to win was so strong that ultimately she broke ties with her immediate family over it, not patching that rift until before the Tokyo Olympics.

Back in 2013, Lloyd told me she wanted to be named FIFA’s Player of the Year — at the time, a seemingly ludicrous notion that she knew would earn her ridicule. “The end goal is I want to become FIFA women’s player of the year,” she said back in April 2013. “Some may laugh and think, ‘Wow, she’s crazy,’ but there’s no sense in dreaming to get to the top if you don’t think you can get there. There’s no point in putting a limit on yourself.”

Indeed, Lloyd has believed she could achieve the impossible, and she has. At 39 years old, she became the oldest goalscorer in Olympic history and netted the game-winner in the bronze medal match against Australia, sealing a remarkable career since 2005 where, as long as a trophy was on the line, she was never merely a participant for the USWNT, but a key figure.

Before that bronze medal match, Lloyd admitted the bus ride to the stadium felt different. Knowing it was the last game of the last major tournament of her career, she reflected on everything she had done to reach that moment. She was proud, she said, of the player she became.

“Never wavering, just being me,” she said. “Unapologetically me. It’s been hard at times, but I’ve trusted the process.”

Apple iPhone 13: Every thing We Know So Far

The Apple iPhone 12 series may only be a few months old, but we already hear dozens of rumors about the iPhone 13 series and a possible launch event in September. The iPhone 12 represented a big change for the iPhone lineup, with an entirely new design, improved cameras, and more – but if rumors are to be believed, the iPhone 13 could be even more exciting.

Here’s everything we know about the iPhone 13 so far.

iPhone 13 design

The iPhone 12 series brought big design changes to the iPhone, largely due to the more blocky design inspired by the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5. Because of this, we don’t expect many changes to the overall design and look of the iPhone 13 – but we did see a few tweaks.

The latest leaks about the iPhone 13 come from serial leaker Jon Prosser, who says he’s received CAD renders of the upcoming iPhone 13. The renderings show a new diagonal camera layout for non-Pro iPhone models as well as a slightly thicker construction to accommodate a larger battery. They also seem to show a smaller notch on the device.

iPhone 13 render leak on top.

Rumors suggest that Apple will likely switch to a port-free iPhone at some point. Many experts see Apple’s decision to bring MagSafe charging to the iPhone as a first step towards that change. However, it is unlikely to happen to the iPhone 13. While rumors said at least one model will be foregoing ports, and noted TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in 2019 that Apple would release a portless iPhone in 2021, recent reports suggest Apple will be among the more established Lightning port for another year.

Another persistent rumor has it that the iPhone will get a smaller notch. Some rumors suggest that Apple wanted to add a smaller notch to the iPhone 12 as part of its new design, but couldn’t – and is instead targeting the iPhone 13 for that change. It’s unlikely the notch will be all off, but Ice Universe, a well-known leaker on Twitter, says the notch will be shallower. An Everything Apple Pro leak suggests the notch will be narrower rather than shallower, and Unbox Therapy has managed to get their hands on a dummy iPhone 13 Pro Max device that might show off that smaller notch design.

The iPhone 13 is originally supposed to bring back the Touch ID. The pandemic has proven that facial recognition, while cool, doesn’t always make sense – for example, when you’re wearing a mask. Apple reportedly considered an in-display fingerprint sensor, according to Bloomberg, but a later report from the publication added that the company was unlikely to ship it this year.

Last but not least, the iPhone 13 can come in a few different colors. According to EverythingApplePro and Max Weinbach, the iPhone 13 series could come in a matte black that is darker than the graphite color currently offered on the iPhone 12 Pro. Other recent rumors suggest that at least some iPhone 13 models will appear in a new rose pink.

iPhone 13 display

The iPhone 12 brought OLED display technology to the entire iPhone 12 series, and therefore the display experience is more or less the same on all iPhone 12 models. In 2021, however, Apple could give the iPhone 13 Pro models another step in the form of a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

Rumors of high refresh rate iPhones have been circulating for years, and there was a time when many experts thought it was coming on the iPhone 12 12.According to Korean website The Elec, Apple is now introducing LTPO technology into the iPhone 13 -Build models that would pave the way for high refresh rates when needed and lower refresh rates at other times. This was confirmed in a leak by Weinbach, which stated that the iPhone 13 will have a 120Hz display and that it will actually be an always-on display, similar to what we’ve seen on some Android phones. Weinbach says that the always-on display will look like a “weakened lock screen” and always show the time and battery level. Notifications are also displayed, but supposedly only part of the screen lights up to show the notification. A later report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman gave credibility to the always-on display feature.

The standard models of iPhone 13 are unlikely to receive the high refresh rate technology. Hopefully, however, they all get it in the iPhone 14 series.

iPhone 13 specifications

There aren’t many rumors about the iPhone 13’s specs under the hood, but there are a few. According to Jon Prosser, some of the iPhone 13 prototypes offer a whopping 1TB of storage space, which is twice the maximum capacity of the iPhone 12.

Some other assumptions can be made about the iPhone 13’s specs. In particular, the iPhone 13 is likely to use a new Apple A15 chip that is expected to stick to a 5nm process. Apple invests billions in its chip manufacturing, with much of that research being used for laptop-class processors like the M1. However, the iPad Pro has seen a performance boost with the addition of the M1 – and while the iPhone is unlikely to get an M-series chip, the A-series will likely still get a performance boost and the tradition of being the top performing mobile chip in the game. According to a DigiTimes report, chipmaker TSMC will continue to build A-series chips for the iPhone 13.

Regarding the larger battery mentioned above, a report by Trendforce (via Pocket-Lint) from mid-August said that Apple isn’t really going to make its iPhones thicker or heavier, but instead is relying on clever tech and tweaking its circuit board design so that a bigger one Battery fits in the same chassis. When it comes to the exact numbers, ZDNet reports that the battery capacity of the iPhone 13 Pro Max will increase from 3,687 mAh to 4,352 mAh. The publication also states that the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 will now share a 3095 mAh battery instead of a 2,815 mAh battery, with the iPhone 13 Mini using a 2406 mAh battery in place of the 2227 battery. mAh batteries in the 12 mini is delivered.

iPhone 13 cameras

IPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro from the back with cameras.

The iPhone 12 didn’t get that big of a camera upgrade compared to the iPhone 11 series, but it was still a step up, especially when it comes to the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s larger sensors and sensor-shift technology. Hopefully, this tech will also be available on lower-priced iPhones in 2021, and rumors back it up. A rumor from display analyst Ross Young is that all iPhone 13 devices will get the same sensors as the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

However, another rumor suggests a different upgrade. According to a Barclays investor note, all four iPhone 13 models will receive an ultrawide camera with an aperture of f / 1.8. It’s important to note that Kuo denies this, saying that only the iPhone 13 Pro models will get a larger opening. However, Kuo says the ultrawide camera will get autofocus for the first time, which will be a big upgrade for the camera. Kuo’s report is backed by a later report from TrendForce that said the iPhone 13 Pro models will have autofocus, but Apple will bring it to all 2022 models.

Weinbach says the iPhone 13 will have a stronger focus on astrophotography, and it’s supposed to be an automatic mode that the iPhone can switch to. Weinbach also claims that the iPhone will be able to record videos in portrait orientation and users can adjust the bokeh effect after recording videos. That report was later confirmed by Bloomberg, who added that Apple is naming this cinematic video. Apple is also planning to expand its video recording arsenal with ProRes support, a format that enables more powerful optimizations to recorded videos. It’s essentially a video version of ProRaw that was brought to iPhones last year and has been a standard on non-mobile platforms for creatives for years.

Other rumors suggest that Apple could add a lidar sensor to all four iPhone 13 models, which could help speed autofocus in low-light conditions and play a role in future augmented reality (AR) technology.

How many iPhone 13 models will there be?

With the iPhone 13, Apple is said to be duplicating the iPhone 12 product line. This means that we can expect an iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, as well as an iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini. According to reports from analysts like Trendforce, the company plans to focus on the larger iPhones as the company found initial sales of the iPhone Mini disappointing.

Is it really going to be called iPhone 13?

According to some reports, Apple will refer to the iPhone as the iPhone 12S in 2021, with Trendforce saying the company sees the 2021 series as an extension of the 2020 iPhone 12 series. There are also unfortunate cultural associations with the number 13 being raised. On the flip side, a new report by the Economic Daily News, citing supply chain sources, said Apple will actually refer to the iPhone as the iPhone 13 with a view to launch in September in 2021.

IPhone 13 pricing and release date

The phones are expected to be priced similar to the iPhone 12 series. Although Apple launched the iPhone 12 in October, it traditionally launches new models in September – and as long as the supply chain problems don’t persist, then we expect the iPhone 13 to be released. A Wedbush analyst predicted that the iPhone 13 would hit the market on September 14th, contrary to Apple’s trend of holding its iPhone events on Tuesdays. It’s also a good sign for the supply chain that Apple still expects to ship more iPhones than usual and order a production run of 90 million iPhones instead of the usual 75 million.

Melissa Joan Hart Shares Replace Following Breakthrough COVID Prognosis

Melissa Joan Hart is on the way.

A few days after the actress publicly announced her groundbreaking COVID diagnosis, the mother of three announced her condition to fans.

“I want you to know I’m so much better,” Hart said in an August 22 Instagram video after thanking those who checked in with her. “I feel like I’m probably at 75 percent. My last video was probably [at] 20, 25 percent. “

In the latest clip, Hart – who shares sons mason, fifteen, Braydon, 13, and Tucker, 8, with husband Mark Wilkerson– also gave an update on her family’s health. Though Sabrina the Teenage Witch alum noted that it was a “rough week” and that she and her eldest son Mason are feeling better now.

As for the rest of her family, Hart said, “Tucker, my little one, is positive but no symptoms, so that’s good. So far, Brady [Braydon] is negative – my middle one, waiting for Mark’s results to be lost in the mail. So everyone stays very isolated and separated. I just wanted to send love to everyone out there. “

Jameis Winston vs. Taysom Hill: Who will win the Saints QB battle to switch Drew Brees?

For 15 years, the Saints rarely had to worry about their starting quarterback. Drew Brees became their starter after signing as a free agent during the 2006 NFL off-season and holding that post until he retired after the 2020 season.

Brees missed just 12 games in his 15 years with the Saints. Nine of them came in the last two seasons, but even when Brees was healthy there was no doubt he was their quarterback.

Now, in 2021, the Saints may have the most troubled quarterback fight in the NFL as Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill battle for the starting job. And Sean Payton seems content to let her do that.

So far, Payton has been impressed by both quarterbacks during training camp.

“Both guys are working their heads off, they are very respected by their teammates, they are really, really good leaders,” Payton told ESPN’s Dan Graziano. “And that’s good.”

Payton has three preseason games to rate Winston and Hill. What has he said about her so far? Here’s everything you need to know about the Saints quarterback battle as New Orleans gets closer to syncing its successor from Brees.

IYER: Where the Saints starter is one of the NFL’s 32 QBs

What Sean Payton Said About Jameis Winston

Winston didn’t start for the Saints when Brees went down last year. Hill received that honor instead. But even after that decision, Payton was firmly convinced that he would have felt comfortable starting Winston.

“Jameis is definitely a starter,” Payton said on Saints Wire. “He did an exceptionally good job considering how long we’ve had or haven’t had since we signed up.”

He added that the decision to leave Winston on the bench was something he considered every game.

“I and we as an organization love what we’ve seen from Jameis,” said Payton, “and that puts a strain on you every game.”

Winston was a free agent in the 2021 off-season, but the Saints were able to sign him again after Payton made it clear that New Orleans wanted him back.

“Often you want to hold your cards closer to your waistcoat [with a] Free agent, “said Payton, according to ESPN’s Mike Triplett.” But he along with Taysom Hill, we’ve been saying it all along, we’re going to develop and coach these guys. And Jameis is one of those guys we’re really interested in. “

Payton didn’t say much about Winston during training camp. He has spoken about him in conjunction with Hill, but has not commented specifically on Winston’s performance. However, Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael called it a “quick study” and noted how Winston’s work with self-exploration has helped him improve.

“Every year I have the chance to explore myself. But I’ve had so many people to scout out this year, ”said Winston. “I mean, we had Tom Brady on an offense that I played the year before. We had Matt Ryan on an offense with (formerly Bucs coach) Dirk Koetter in Atlanta. We had Drew Brees on that offense. And then” we had Teddy (Bridgewater) in (a version of) Sean’s offensive in Carolina.

“I’ve seen four great quarterbacks perform in these systems. So I was able to take some things from them. I was able to take some things that I learned from my experience of these attacks and of course from this more recent offensive with Sean.” So it’s been an amazing year for me when it comes to learning football as a whole. “

Perhaps Payton will stay with Winston’s mom to keep his quarterback choice a secret. That said, his comments on Hill were more copious.

What Sean Payton Said About Taysom Hill

The world first saw Payton’s love affair with Hill in March 2020. Payton mentioned that the Saints viewed Hill as a future starter, with Drew Brees entering what appeared to be the final season of his career.

“I think Taysom sees himself as the starting quarterback in this league and so do we,” Payton said on ESPN’s Get Up.

It shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise, however, when Payton chose to start Hill for four games during the 2020 season, with Brees out. Hill led the Saints to a 3-1 record as a starter, averaging 208.5 yards and one TD pass per game. He added 52.3 rushing yards and a rush TD per game.

Why did Payton then decide to start Hill over Winston?

“My thinking was a commitment I made to Taysom in the off-season,” Payton said.

There was no such commitment from Payton that year. Even so, Payton was impressed by Hill during camp. Does he think Hill has improved year on year?

“Yes. Absolutely,” Payton said after Saints training on August 11th. “He’s getting a lot more work with it now.”

Payton touted the quarterback’s extra reps as a reason for Hill’s progress. In previous years, the team had given him reps at quarterback and tight end, among other things, so Payton believes the extra work has led to his “gradual improvement”.

“He’s coming faster with his progress,” said Payton. “I think the reps on this offense are what he needs. I think both [Hill and Jameis Winston] have effectively brought the ball across the field at times. Overall, as you step in and out of the huddle, you will see a gradual improvement as you progress from the primary to the secondary goals [Hill] in these areas.”

Payton seems impressed with Hill, but that doesn’t mean Hill is leading the quarterback fight. It’s more likely that Payton is closely watching the Saints preseason games while looking for a passerby to earn his edge.

Who started the Saints’ first preseason game?

Taysom Hill started the Saints’ first preseason game. He started the game well, marching the Saints across the field, completing 4 out of 5 passes for 62 yards. That included a 23-yard hit for Marquez Callaway.

The Saints failed to score due to a Latavius Murray fumble, but Hill had the Saints in the goal area, within the 10-yard line.

His next two trips didn’t go nearly as well. He threw an ugly interception on the fourth down that was way out of reach of a wide open Ty Montgomery.

On the following drive, Hill led the Saints to eight yards in nine games. He finished his night 8 of 12 for 81 yards and an interception. He didn’t try a run.

Winston came to Hill and played similarly. He went 7 of 12 for 96 yards and a touchdown. He also threw an interception. His best throw was a 33 yard win for Juwan Johnson.

After the game, Payton declined to comment on the quarterback fight, citing the Saints’ overall poor performance as part of the problem.

“I’m not making comparisons with the quarterbacks right now,” Payton said. “It doesn’t matter who really [played better] with six turnovers, right? “

Who will start the Saints’ second preseason game?

Jameis Winston will play for the Saints against the Jaguars on Monday night. New Orleans manager Sean Payton confirmed the assignment on August 20. Winston starts as part of a scheduled rotation with him and Taysom Hill.

Infections and hospital admissions in Washington state have hit document ranges

Covid-19 transmissions and hospitalizations in Washington state are at all-time highs, according to the state’s Department of Health.

On July 8, Washington recorded a Covid infection prevalence of 1 in 588 residents. Just one month later, on August 6, that number almost quadrupled to a Covid infection prevalence of 1 in 156 residents, the department said on Thursday. The latest numbers exceeded those of the state’s third wave of Covid infections in the winter of 2020.

According to a CNBC analysis of data from Johns Hopkins University, Washington state reports a seven-day average of 38.5 daily new cases per 100,000 population, ranking 22nd among all states.

Four counties had 14-day new infection rates of 500 per 100,000 Washington residents and five counties had rates of 300 to 500 per 100,000 residents. Sixteen counties had rates from 200 to 300 and 12 counties had rates from 100 to 200. The delta variant accounts for 98% of the cases in the state.

Hospital admissions in the state also rose, with a seven-day moving average of 29 hospital admissions for Covid on June 16. The number remained relatively low through July 8, but tripled to a seven-day moving average of 96 hospital admissions for Covid symptoms by August 6. The state found that hospital admissions for people between the ages of 20 and 30 have increased, a trend seen in hospitals across the country as most older Americans were vaccinated.

Admissions to state hospitals for the unvaccinated and over 65s are six times higher than for those who are fully vaccinated. In people aged 16 to 64, unvaccinated people are 10 times more likely to be hospitalized than their vaccinated counterparts. “If the entire population were to experience the hospitalization rates currently observed in unvaccinated people, the hospital system would be completely overwhelmed,” the state health department said in a statement.

Death rates have been down since Jan.

Immunity to prior infection in the state is only 15.5%, which would leave 84.5% of Washington residents unprotected if they did not have access to Covid-19 vaccines. According to the Ministry of Health, by August 16, 71.5% of the population aged 12 and over had received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine.

In the nationwide population, immunity to previous infections and vaccinations is 54.7%, an increase of only 2.8% since July 6.

“It is imperative to realize that literally any of us or our loved ones could be in need of hospital treatment in the near future,” said Acting State Science Director Dr. Scott Lindquist. “To ensure that care is available when needed, our hospitals are currently counting on each of us to be masked and vaccinated.”

CNBC’s Nate Rattner contributed to this report.

SpaceX believes it will possibly ship folks to the moon ahead of 2024

It’s no secret that a new space race has been brewing in recent years. This time around, the race is not a competition between two state space agencies; it has more competitors and is more complicated. In addition to more government competitors, commercial space companies are also vying for positions and lucrative contracts. Add a network of public-private partnerships and you have Space Race 2.0!

There has been a lot of buzz since NASA awarded the Artemis contract for the Human Landing System (HLS) to SpaceX. This led to legal challenges from Blue Origin and Dynetics (SpaceX’s competitors), as well as a lawsuit and chaotic public relations campaign. NASA has since taken off work and started making payments to SpaceX, recently indicating that their HLS concept could be operational before the 2024 deadline.

As part of the NextSTEP – 2 Appendix H program, NASA selected SpaceX, Blue Origin and Dynetics to develop the HLS that will bring the Artemis III astronauts back to the lunar surface. NASA originally hoped to award contracts to two of these companies, but ultimately chose SpaceX due to budget constraints and schedules. In response, Blue Origin and Dynetics filed a protest with the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

NASA has started their @SpaceX Moon Lander payments. Hopefully (and I trust) the SpaceX team will work quickly. @elonmusk do you expect the Lunar Starship 2024 to be ready to land humans (despite other delays)? https://t.co/jWIl6Hhw20

– Alles Artemis (@ artemis360_moon) August 15, 2021

On July 30, GAO rejected these protests and suspended the work stoppage it issued until it could review the protests. On the same day, NASA made the first payment for the HLS contract, according to CNBC space reporter Michael Sheetz. Based on documents uploaded to USASpening.gov, Sheetz reported that NASA has granted $ 300 million out of a binding amount of $ 439.6 million (the total contract value is over $ 3 billion).

In response, Twitter user Everything Artemis (@ artemis360_moon), an unofficial account that tracks news related to the Artemis program, reached out to Elon Musk. “NASA has started their @SpaceX Moon Lander payments. Hopefully (and I trust) the SpaceX team will work quickly. @elonmusk do you expect the Lunar Starship 2024 to be ready to land humans (despite other delays)? ”he tweeted. To which Elon replied: “Probably earlier.”

The SpaceX HLS concept is a modified version of the Starship that is currently undergoing rapid development (along with the Super Heavy booster) at SpaceX’s launch facility near Boca Chica. According to the latest model (see above) and previous statements from Musk, the HLS Starship will have a higher payload capacity because it does not require heat shields, flaps, and large gas thruster packages (all of which are required for atmospheric re-entry).

It also comes with wider landing legs that future Starships may do without completely, as SpaceX is building the “Mechazilla” launch tower. In any event, concerns about possible delays and compliance with the 2024 deadline will extend beyond the four months lost due to the GAO’s stop order. In addition, issues are being reported with the Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Units (xEMU) spacesuits leading to fears that they will not be completed on time.

Again, Musk SpaceX offered help, claiming that they could have this other crucial mission element ready sooner. And of course there are the much-noticed delays that plagued the Space Launch System (SLS) from the start, as well as the Orion capsule. This has led to speculation that NASA should take on the task of sending the Artemis astronauts back with the Starship and Super Heavy.

To sum up, NASA is still trying to get back to the moon by 2024 (as directed by the previous government). They had to speed everything up, re-prioritize certain mission elements, and turned to contractors (mostly SpaceX) to fill the void. ESA and other space agencies are working with them to enforce this, while Russia and China have teamed up to launch a competing lunar exploration and settlement program.

Meanwhile, contractors are fighting over which commercial space tycoon will see their logo on the equipment of the lander bringing astronauts back to the moon for the first time since the Apollo era. As I said, complicated!

Russell Westbrook’s hometown return continues in a brand new jersey and sport

Russell Westbrook can now add pitcher to his already impressive athletic résumé.

In honor of Lakers Day at Dodger Stadium, the new Los Angeles Lakers guard continued his homecoming by tossing the first pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. The New York Mets defeated the Dodgers 7-2.

A Long Beach, California native, Westbrook recently returned to his roots thanks to a trade from the Washington Wizards, who acquired Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and a first-round pick in exchange for the 2016-17 NBA MVP. Today marked the first time the 32-year old Westbrook tossed out the first pitch for his hometown team. He was drafted fourth overall in 2008 after spending two seasons with the UCLA Bruins, with whom he earned third-team All-Pac-10 honors and was named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year.

The NBA’s all-time leader in triple-doubles (184) spent 11 seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder before one-year stops with the Houston Rockets and Wizards. Westbrook has made the playoffs in each of the past six seasons.

Prior to the game, Westbrook caught up with Dodgers All-Star right-fielder Mookie Betts. The latter won his second career World Series ring last year with the Dodgers after winning his first with the Boston Red Sox in 2018.

According to Elias Sports Bureau research, Betts became only the fourth athlete in MLB, NBA, NFL or NHL history to win a title with both Los Angeles and Boston-based teams. Westbrook and Betts have combined for two league MVP awards and 14 All-Star selections over their respective careers.

Interestingly enough, Westbrook isn’t the only active Laker to toss a first pitch for the Dodgers.

No, not LeBron James.
