Here's what led social media to believe that Erykah Badu had previously eclipsed Bey
On March 20, Beyoncé shared a photo promoting “Cowboy Carter” on Instagram.
Later that day, Badu republished the strip with a brief word: “Hmmm.”
Social media users immediately responded to The Shade Room's comments, believing Badu was shading Bey. Users seemed to think that Badu was outshining Bey because of the pearl hairstyle she wore in the photo, which Badu also famously graced.
At the time, Instagram user @kellyglassthejournalist wrote: “We love you, Badu, but this look is reserved for all black people, not just you!”
While Instagram user @lilromanxd_ added, “@erykahbadu jealous of Queen Bey 😍😮? If she has paid homage to you several times”
Badu's alleged shade also appeared to prompt comment from Bey's publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure.
Roommates, do you think Erykah Badu ever overshadowed Bey? Or was it all just a misunderstanding?
