The Netherlands is often referred to as the birthplace of laboratory cooking. It has also become a hub for today's emerging sector.

One of the leading lights in the scene is Meatable. The startup recently hosted the first (legal) cultured meat tasting.

“It tasted just like meat sausages!” Meatable co-founder Krijn de Nood told TNW.

Conference speakers to watch

Every week one of our authors shares a top tip for the TNW conference. Today's selection comes from Ioanna Lykiardopoulou:

As a fan of AI-driven health apps, I'm excited to watch Elina Berglund, co-founder and CEO of Natural Cycles, the world's leading contraceptive app.

Berglund, a Swedish particle physicist and entrepreneur, founded Natural Cycles with the mission of offering women a hormone-free alternative to contraception.

Berglund is among the femtech innovators helping to close the gender gap in health data.
