In the first episode of the show, Carter meets with the television presenter and journalist Don LemonThe former news anchor chats candidly about his life after CNN, his interracial marriages, current politics and his new series “The Don Lemon Show.”

Don Lemon talks about his relationship with another race
During the interview, Don Lemon recalled that he knew he wanted to marry his husband, Tim Malonefrom the moment they got engaged in 2019.
According to ABC, the couple officially tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony in New York City in April 2024. Although Lemon is happily married, he admitted that he finds the comments about his relationship ignorant.
The television journalist told Carter that he had received a lot of criticism because of his relationship with someone of another race, but that he was unfazed because he was truly happy.
“I see it online with people saying, oh, he married a white man from a white family, but I actually see it more with African-Americans and to me it's just ignorance. You love who you love, you fall in love with who you fall in love with. But the fact is, I fell in love with him and I married him and that's it. And people should be able to love who they love. I'm nobody's business. Nobody should tell me who I should marry. And especially people who have been discriminated against should know better.” Lemon explained.
Don talks politics on “Dishin' It”
Don was sure to share his thoughts on the current state of politics while speaking with Justin. Lemon explained that we are currently in a very “pivotal” time before the 2024 presidential election. The reporter explained that he does not think President Biden is too old to run for president.
He also stated that we are in unusual times given the trial and guilty verdict of Donald Trump.
“To be in this position where you have a president who has four trials and, I believe, 84 charges or allegations against him, it's a very normal place to be. These are unusual times for us. And someone who doesn't believe in democracy telling us that if he becomes president again he's going to be a dictator. We're in a very crucial time right now and I feel very lucky and blessed to be in a position where I can say my shit about it and not have to worry about anyone getting mad.” Lemon explains.
