At the beginning of this month, Arx announced plans to invest 45 million GBP in a new British facility in which it will build its autonomous soil vehicles. The company expects the work to produce 1,800 war robots every year after the operation.
The ARX machines drive around on profiles and can be equipped with equipment such as radar, mining swinging devices or medical stretchers. The largest wears military payloads with a weight of up to 500 kg – including injured soldiers – on the battlefield.
The robots are built modularly and using off-the-shelf components produced in Europe. They are designed so that soldiers can repair them on the battlefield without tools within minutes. The vehicles move autonomously, but military staff can also control them from a distance from a tablet.
Rising of defense technology
The forces of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary and Great Britain have already carried out field tests of ARX technology. In February, the company delivered 30 of its war bots to the Ukrainian armed forces who worked with an active fight. The European Defense Agency (EDA) recently commissioned Arx at the first EU-wide defense innovation initiative.
“Arx Robotics brought the largest western UGV fleet to Ukraine, and we look forward to continuing to support the company because it expands its reach in NATO nations,” said Chris O'Connor, partner of NATO Innovation Fund.
