Jesse Marsch, a national team of men, has discussions with Vancouver Whitecaps defender Tristan Blackmon about possibly representing Canada at the international level, said sources ESPN.
The 28 -year -old Blackmon spent parts of the last four seasons with the caps and, while the Vancouver run, delivered some outstanding displays to the final of the Concacaf Champion Cup, in which he will compete against Cruz Azul in Mexico City on June 1st.
A source characterized the discussions as an exploratory nature, with Blackmon pursuing a waiting period to determine whether he was called to the national team of the US men. The 60-member preliminary runs for the Gold Cup will be announced on Monday.
The Las Vegas born has no Canadian citizenship, but sources say ESPN that the Canada Soccer Association is willing to make the application of Blackmon on a Canadian passport if it decides to drive the proposal forward.

According to Section 5 (4) of the Canadian Citizenship Act, “at the discretion of each person, the minister can grant citizenship to … to reward the services of an exceptional value for Canada”. The idea is that Blackmon would receive his passport some time before the 2026 World Cup, but also enough time to get used to the Canada National Team Setup.
There are precedents for Canada that grants American athletes. Last December, the World Cup Pairs figure skater Deanna Stellato-Dudek became Canadian citizen and cleared her the way for her to compete with partner Maxime Deschamps at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
However, the FIFA regulations state that for players who started in an area from the age of 18 must have lived there for at least five years in order to play for the country's national team.

Blackmon did not appear internationally for the United States at any level, although he was on the provisional squad for a USMNT training camp that took place last January.
He played collegiate soccer at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California before celebrating his professional debut for LAFC in 2018, where he initially started as directly back. He also had credit persons with the USL championship page Phoenix in 2018 and 2019. Overall, Blackmon achieved 217 appearances in all competitions at a professional level and achieved nine goals.
Blackmon was part of the Shield winners of the LAFC supporters in 2019 and was part of the three Canadian championship teams with the Whitecaps 2022, 2023 and 2024.
