Before we go on, it may be fair to set some basic rules for the assessment of this Stanley Cup final.
In particular, unless the Edmonton Oilers or Florida Panthers get a sufficiently large lead to bring the game out of reach, the result can be decided in the last 10 minutes of regulation or if the game profit destination is decided in overtime (or even double overtime).
OK. Now that we are on the same side, you can see a look at how the Oilers won game 1 with a 4: 3 victory on Wednesday-and what it means for both teams in which the 2-year game on Friday.
Win the third period in the way the Oilers did was crucial. Not only because it led to overtime, but also because it was probably its most constant framework in game 1.
They had the shots in the first period, but still remained. They struggled to win in the second property and create shots, which played a role in why they had dropped through a goal. At the beginning of third place to score a goal from Mattias Ekholm, the Oilers gave the Oilers their 20 different goal scorers in this post. They also exceeded the Panthers with 14: 2, while they have a shooting share of 58.3% and give them a feeling of control that they lacked to start.
Although they started overtime on the defensive, their constant ability to put the pressure on the last 15 minutes, and Leon Draisaitl achieved the game winner with 1:06.

They survived the Kasperi Kapanen -Mini outlier. They survived the point blank chance from Trent Frederic on the Faceoff district. They survived when the Oilers had a 5-to-5 sequence that they treated like a power game. They survived the chance of Evan Bouchard, in which he slipped behind the defense to have another opportunity to hold the Sergei Bobrovsky.
Even the child of Destiny thought for the acquaintances that the Panthers survived a little too much.
In the end, they could not survive the late running time of the Oilers, where the Draisaitl scored the gate that the Panthers brought away.
Each game has a turning point, especially when a team loses. The Panthers had a couple. Will it be the second period in which you have a shooting share of 65.2%, while you start 17 goal shots – just to score a goal that is largely due to Stuart Skinner's solid game on the net? Will it be the third period in which you only received two shots on goal? Or will it be as you couldn't do the best of your dominant start in overtime?
Arda Öcals three stars from game 1
Draisaitl did not have a single goal in the 2024 final. On Wednesday he scored 66 seconds in game 1 and then scored the overtime game winner. A sublime start to this year's championship series. Draisaitl has achieved or supported five of the six OT goals of the Oilers in the last two post -seasons.

Leon Draisaitl achieved 66 seconds in game 1 for Oilers
Leon Draisaitl is the first goal of the Stanley Cup final a little more than a minute in the game for the Oilers against the Panthers.
In his second game, the experienced defender scored his first goal of this post -season by an injury. He became the 20th Oiler, which scored a goal in these playoffs, which is the second most common in a single off -season in NHL history. (The flyers and blues from 1987 and 2019 each had 21 different goal scorers.)
Bennett had a two-goal effort in a lost cause. He has 12 goals in this post -season, most in the only playoffs in franchise history. Eleven of these goals were on the move, which is associated with Mark Scheifele (2018) for most street destinations in a single post -season in NHL history.
Player to see in game 2
Remember: This man was in November for waiver. When the Oilers claimed him, it was considered a chance to give the depth cheap, but it became a bit larger. His game-winning gate in the series clinching game 5 overtime overtime in the final of the Western Conference opened the door for more playing time. He almost did it again in game 1 in extra time, but he received the gaming goal.
It was part of the solution, like the Oilers without Zach Hyman, who suffered an injury in the final of the Western Conference, which will keep him away for the rest of the off -season. Kapanen contributed to three templates, and his five goals made it possible for the Oilers to maintain the physical edge, which they used as part of their identity to achieve a successive cup final.
There are two ways to examine what Bennett did in game 1. The first is that his two-point effort, which made him a serious candidate to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as a playoff MVP. Bennett was a leader with 10 goals after the season before the game. Two more collect 18 points, which is connected to the Oilers Center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for fourth place.
The second is that he is paid for this low season. On Wednesday, the Colorado Avalanche Brock Nelson revealed $ 7.5 million a year in a three-year deal a year to avoid that it may have losing the free agency. What Bennett did to help the Panthers to achieve three consecutive Stanley Cup final -and to be able to claim at least a second title -only what he could order will increase on July 1st.

Big questions for game 2
Did the Oilers give the Oilers a defensive street map against the Panthers in the third time and overtime?
The way back to the Stanley Cup final of the Oilers was based on how their defense structure prevented life for the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights to hell, two teams who were in the goals in the goals per game in the regular season – and had to fight in the playoffs.

The Oilers had some challenges in the first period, with Skinner being shielded partly on the first two goals before she had a collapse in the second period that left her goalkeeper on an island.
From there, the Oilers gave up eight shots over the last frames, with the greatest concentration in the first five minutes of the extension.
Of course, the Panthers have found breakthroughs against teams with limited defense structures such as the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference. Are the panthers in game 2 another? Or could the oilers stand on something that could be even more successful in her defense identity?
What is the most important snack in the future: your start or your goal?
Here it gets complicated – and it returns to the earlier statement about teams with turning points. In the second period, the Panthers were aggressive in a way that hardly anyone was against the oilers. This led to five opportunities for high thinners and a general feeling of control.
This has caused only one goal to achieve-especially in a hit otwas that could ask questions about how to optimally use these opportunities in the future.
At the same time, they had to share the chances of high tourers in an overtime in which they shared the share of the shot with the Oilers, but not to offer this consistent threat?
That could think even more to the Panthers in the coming days … or maybe they will not question the process because they had won their last 31 playoff games in which they had a lead of the second period.
