Hugo Lloris believes that his former club Tottenham Hotspur increased a weight from her shoulders after winning the Europa League and praised Posetecoglou for the fact that she ended her 17-year waiting time for silverware.
The 38-year-old goalkeeper left the Spurs in February 2024, after he had made 447 appearances in 11 years, and is scheduled to begin Chelsea for Los Angeles FC in the FIFA Club World Cup on Monday.
Lloris, who had previously headed Tottenham, revealed his joy over her 1-0 victory against Manchester United in Bilbao last month, which was ultimately not enough to convince the trace hierarchy after her worst Premier League season with a 17th place.
“I'm very happy,” said Lloris about Tottenham's triumph. “I am very happy for the club, for the people in the club, for the players.
“We ran many, many years after this trophy and finally they got it and I think they deserve it.

“Hopefully it will be a bit easier for the future and I think it is also the moment to build on this success for Spurs. Even if I am not a Spurs player, I still follow the news, the team and the results.”
Postecoglou was replaced by Thomas Frank as head coach last week, and when the decision surprised him, Lloris said: “No, nothing surprises me in football. But at the same time it is difficult to say something because I am on the other side. I don't know what happened in the club so that it is really difficult to judge.
“If you have made this decision, it is because there is another option that is better for the future of the club.
“What Posetecoglou did was simply remarkable. He brought this Europa League trophy, he brought the Spurs community a lot of joy, also a lot of pride, and we have to be grateful for it.

“I'm not here to discuss the choice [of Tottenham’s new head coach]. He is a respected trainer, he did a great job at Brentford. As with every trainer, when you arrive in a new club, there is now a new environment that you have to accept. But when the club decided to appoint him, it is likely because he decides that it is the best for the future. “
Lloris considered Tottenham's performance and continued: “They had a really tough season. They also had many injuries that influenced the team and the performance, and I think it looks like they have decided on the Europa League in the second part of the season.
“You did it and you just have to congratulate you because it is another way to go to the Champions League. At the end of the day, I don't know if you end the 10th, 14th, 15th, 16th place and if you have the chance to win a trophy on the other, it is just an amazing performance.
“I have been part of a really competitive team for many years and the goal was to reach the first four, but at what price we could not find a way to win a trophy, a league or even a Europa League cup, but we managed to get the top four for many years. I don't know that the club's look is all about.”
