Kirk Franklin continues to clear his name when he recently appeared on the Tamron Hall talk show to discuss issues with his 33-year-old son, Kerrion. He got to the point about their rocky relationship over the years and revealed that the two have been consistently in and out of therapy for over 20 years. Kirk also admitted that Kerrion’s “disrespect became more aggressive over the years.”

He went on to comment on their ongoing struggles as father and son:

“Now that he’s 33 years of age as a grown man, the relationship can be very excited and very frustrated at times … but I won’t stop trying to help. He’s my son, he’s my firstborn, and I never want him to feel what I felt like I didn’t have a father … It matters to me because what if that phone call is the phone call that things change to change? “

Kirk added that respect is a one-way street and that Kerrion seems to be struggling to understand that. “I respect Kerrion. But I am not the same as Kerrion. I am not the same, I am his father.
