England was drafted Group I. of the qualifying cycle for the UEFA FIFA World Cup. The draw took place in December 2020.

The three lions meet Robert Lewandowski’s Poles as well as Hungary, Albania, Andorra and San Marino.

Group winners automatically qualify for the World Cup and the team that finishes second has to navigate through the play-offs.

Each team in the group plays twice against the other five teams – at home and away – which means England play a total of 10 games.

Qualifiers and results for the 2022 English World Cup

England began their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign with an all-out 5-0 home win over San Marino on March 25th. With this game, a three-game cycle began in March, in which the three Lions also play against Albania (March 28). then host Poland at Wembley (March 31).

Three more qualifiers are scheduled for September, with Hungary (September 2), Andorra (September 5) and Poland (September 8) forming the opposition.

England will play two World Cup qualifiers in October – against Andorra on October 9th away and Hungary on October 12th at home – before the November season with matches against Albania (November 12th) and San Marino (November 15th) is completed.

Of course, England’s World Cup qualifying campaign will be punctuated by summer games at Euro 2020 and a series of friendly matches.

Before Euro 2020, the three Lions will play in a friendly against Austria on June 2nd before they face Romania on June 7th. The Euro 2020 starts on June 13th for England against Croatia. Matches against Scotland and the Czech Republic will follow on June 18 and 22, respectively. The tournament itself ends on July 11th.

When will the 2022 World Cup take place?

The 2022 World Cup is the first such tournament to be held in winter. Let the games begin November 21, 2022 and the final will take place on December 18, 2022.

That said, the tournament will begin approximately one year after the qualifying group stage has completed and approximately eight months after the play-off stage, which will take place in March 2022.
