In contrast to previous nights, the action on Thursday in the NHL did not result in teams occupying a playoff spot or others being eliminated. But that could change on Friday when all eight West Division teams take the ice:

After the regular season ends, it’s time to watch all the playoff races – along with the teams battling for position in the 2021 NHL Draft Lottery.

Note: Playoff odds are via Money Puck. Tragic figures come from Damian Echevarrieta of the NHL.

Race for number 1

The NHL uses a draft lottery to determine the order at the beginning of the first round, so the team that finishes last is not guaranteed choice # 1. New for 2021: A team can move up a maximum of 10 places if it wins the lottery. Therefore, only 11 teams are eligible for the # 1 selection draw. You can find detailed information on the process here.
