h / t ResourceGuy; If you expected President Biden to ship emergency solar panels to Texas, you were wrong. When renewable energies fail, as they do in Texas, even the Biden government turns to more reliable forms of energy.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at a news conference Wednesday that the Biden government is sending emergency power generators to Texas amid persistent blackouts and freezing weather.

Why it matters: Huge parts of Texas have been without power for days due to critical outages in the state’s electrical grid. The outages come as a winter storm continues to hit the state, creating unsafe conditions and a desperate need for heat.

Even if a storm like this only happens for 20 years, now it is clearly unacceptable to become 100% renewable. People who rely on electricity for heating are in mortal danger when the only source of energy is renewable energy and the renewable energy systems freeze solid in severe ice storms.

If there is a plan to keep enough diesel backup to turn on the lights when renewables fail, renewables will never be affordable. Consumers are burdened with the cost of maintaining the renewable infrastructure and the additional cost of maintaining a full second set of operational energy infrastructures that are ready to turn on when the renewables fail.
