The baseball world mourns a star.
Robert “Bobby” JenksA two-time all-star pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, died in Portugal July 4 after a fight against stomach cancer in stage 4, the team confirmed. He was 44.
“We have lost a legendary member of the White Sox family,” said White Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in A July 4th Explanation published by the organization. “None of us will ever forget that the ninth inning of Game 4 in Houston, all that Bobby did for the World Series Champions 2005 and for the entire SOX organization during his time in Chicago.”
“He and his family knew that cancer would be his toughest battle and he will be missing as a husband, father, friend and teammate,” he continued. “He will take a special place forever in my heart.”
Jenks – who played for the White Sox from 2005 to 2010 and 2011 for the Boston Red Sox – played his strength with his loved ones on and off the field.
