DDG talks about career goals and aspirations

DDG caused a stir on social media with the latest episode of the “No Ordinary” podcast. In the viral clip from the hour-and-a-half show, the “I'm Geekin” rapper shared his thoughts on how people should approach 9-to-5 jobs.

“A 9-to-5 should only be used for self-financing [business]. “I don’t think anyone should ever take a job and say, ‘I’m going to be the best employee of the year for 10 years.’ No one should ever think that,” the 26-year-old said.

DDG said people shouldn't bother climbing the corporate ladder from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. because one slip-up would result in termination. However, he added that owning a business puts you in charge and allows you to hire and fire employees at will.

“I tell people all the time that you can’t be stuck in an office from 9 to 5. There's nothing wrong with a 9-to-5, but it's like what you do with the 9-to-5. You shouldn't work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to take care of your health [life] for the rest of your life,” the musician continued.

DDG clarifies its comments

After TSR posted the clip of DDG, he jumped into the comments section to clarify his statements. The “Moonwalking in Calabasas” artist explained that he used to have a regular job and all he wanted to do was motivate those to be their own boss one day.

“I am a former TJ Maxx & Kroger employee and used my checks to invest in myself. It's just my opinion from experience. There's nothing wrong with working 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. if that's what you want. This is motivation for people who want to become bosses. “Check out the No Ordinary podcast on YouTube 🫡,” DDG wrote.
