DMX’s hometown of Yonkers, New York, reportedly thought-about honoring him with a statue or avenue in his reminiscence – Mayor additionally says his memorial is welcome at Yonkers Raceway

#Roommates, as the world continues to mourn the death of legendary rapper / actor DMX, the first details of his memorial service and honor of his memory have been released. The DMX family reportedly want a large venue for their memorial service, and the mayor of his hometown is open to the idea – honoring his memory with a permanent statue or street name.

According to @TMZ, the city of Yonkers in New York, New York is committed to ensuring that the memory of the hometown hero DMX lives on. Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano reportedly recently stated that the city was considering honoring DMX with either a statue made in his image or a street named after him to honor his legacy. Mayor Spano says he’s open to both ideas, but the final decision will largely depend on what his family wants to do.

But that’s not all as the first details of the DMX memorial service have also been released. A source close to his family confirmed that both a private and public memorial will be held. Details should be finalized early next week. Mayor Spano stated that he felt the Yonkers Raceway would be the perfect location for X’s public memorial as it is the largest outdoor venue in town with a capacity of 7,500 – although the venue is due to COVID-19 -Guidelines would only be occupied 20% of the way.

As we previously reported, DMX passed away at the age of 50 after being banned from life support in a hospital in White Plains, New York. His family released a statement to XXL and confirmed the news.

The statement read: “We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, maiden name Earl Simmons, has passed away at White Plains Hospital at the age of 50 with his family by his side after serving for life support the US was deployed last couple of days. “
