This is what Taylor Swift said before the 2024 presidential election
Shortly after the first presidential debate aired on September 10, Taylor Swift posted a long message on Instagram. The “Shake it Off” singer urged her fans to engage with the issues and understand the positions of Trump and Harris.
Swift announced that Trump's artificial intelligence-enhanced false claims about her support for him prompted her to clarify her actual voting plans for the 2024 election.
Taylor then confirmed her support for Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.
“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election. I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a champion to represent them. I find her to be a calm, gifted leader and believe we can accomplish so much more in this country when we are led by calm, not chaos. I was so encouraged and impressed by her choice of her running mate @timwalz, who has been an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women's rights to their own bodies for decades,” Swift wrote.
The Guardian reports that Taylor spoke about the vote during her performance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on (September 11). The “Anti-Hero” singer urged fans and audiences aged 18 and over to register to vote.
