A very interesting story in the Telegraph today:

Note that no action is being taken against the coal-fired power plants, and I suspect it has been an awfully long time, if that. This could indicate that Drax was negligent in converting the bio-units or that wood dust cannot be contained as easily as coal dust.

Anyway, I’ve long argued that burning biomass is inherently more polluting than coal for the simple reason that you have to burn more of that stuff than coal to get the same amount of electricity.

It is deeply ironic, of course, that the green lobby has consistently attacked coal power for pollution, not just carbon dioxide emissions.
