Ex-Man United Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Slams Scott Mctominay Switch

The former head coach of Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, criticized the club's decision to transfer Scott Mctominay to Napoli last summer and said: “How to sell Scott is a mystery to me.”

Solskjaer, who is now managing the Turkish League of Besiktas, succeeded José Mourinho as a United head coach in December 2018 and received the job four months later after winning 14 of his first 19 responsible games.

However, the team fought for Constance during the rest of Solskjaer's reign, and after the form of the team was acknowledged at the beginning of the 2021-22 season, the legendary former United striker was released on November 21.

The product of the United Academy Mctominay was one of the most trustworthy Lieutenants in Solskjaer during his time in Old Trafford, but the Scotland international was considered an excess for retirement last summer and came to Napoli in August.

“Scott and Fred together, they were guys who would put them on their hat every day to give 100%,” Sosskjaer told the BBC.

“How you can sell Scott is a mystery to me.”

McTominay has an outstanding debut season in Serie A and its eleven goals in 31 games have contributed to increasing Napoli's title debt. The Antonio Conte team is three points in front of the second -placed Inter Milan with three remaining games.

On Friday, Conte said that he believes that Mctominay was a rounder than when he was at United.

“He feels more complete and more expert and reaches an important stage in his career in which he has to decide on his direction. He never had a primary role in Man United while we gave him one,” Conte told reporters on Friday.

“He worked hard and now he is a complete player. His improvement was shared by the entire team. Otherwise it would be difficult to explain how we deserve 74 points.”

Solskjaer also expressed his support for another of his former players, Harry Maguire. The English international was appointed captain of United by Solskjaer in January 2020, but later replaced by Bruno Fernandes under Erik Ten Hag as a skipper.

Besiktas' boss said Maguire, Fernandes and Victor Lindelöf were the only United players who were to him after his United exit.

“For me, Harry [Maguire] Was always a leader and a fighter, “said Solskjaer.

“I was never in doubt when I signed him and he went into the door to be a captain for us.
