The Atlanta Hawks released General Manager Landry Fields on Monday and promoted Onsi Saleh to fill the position.
After a 40: 42 season, which ended with the loss of overtime on Friday against Miami Heat in the NBA-Play-in tournament, the team initiated a search for a president of the basketball operations.

Fields, 36, stepped to GM in October 2020 as deputy general manager as deputy general manager. Atlanta fell in the first round of the playoffs in his first season 2022-23, before he missed the playoffs in the last two seasons and recorded an overall record of 117-129 in his tenure in his tenur.
“I would really like to thank Landry for his tour during his time. Landry did our franchise better and left contributions that positioned us for growth,” said main owner Tony Ressler. “I am grateful for his commitment and wish him success in his next effort.”
Fields and the Hawks have moved in Zaccharia Risacher with number 1 in the NBA design of 2024. The French striker scored an average of 12.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 75 games (73 starts) during his rookie campaign.
Saleh came to Atlanta in May 2024 after three seasons at the Golden State Warriors and ended his time there as Vice President of Basketball Strategy and Team Counsel. Previously, he spent five years in the Front Office of the San Antonio Spurs.
Saleh will immediately supervise all daily basketball operations.
