Table of contents table has robot beat people? A milestone performance
You may have danced robots such as the music icon Mick Jagger, Parkour or even on a screen. Tesla's Optimus Humanoid robot is eagerly awaited, while Google and Meta also plan to get into the field. However, the competition in the east is at a different level.
China has only put humanoid robots on the test in the first breed of its kind, where they ran in a half marathon next to humans. A total of 21 robots occurred for the event in the half marathon in Yizhuang after long learning was supervised on the streets.
At the event, a whole series of robotics companies showed their goods. Some of the robots were up to 3.9 feet, while others reach a typical human height of 5.9 feet. Some stumbled, some tried to get up alone, while a small number of human help needed.

During the breed, the humanoid robots navigated by steep slopes, potholes, puddles and a smooth asphalt. Battery exchange was allowed, but the replacement would stimulate a strong punishment. Despite the intervention by robotics and software experts, not all robots made it into the finish line.
Did robot beat people?
Not really, and the gap was huge too. The human winner ended the half marathon in just more than an hour, while the victorious humanoid robot took 2 hours and 40 minutes to reach the finish line.
This is due to an average speed of 4.89 miles per hour. For comparison: The Olympic champion Usain Bolt achieved a top speed of 27.33 miles per hour at a track event in 2011. However, the defeat of a human runner was never the point, although the winner exceeded the expectations of the engineering team by about half an hour.

The half marathon in China was more of a shop window for the progress of local robotics companies. The winner of the humanoid robots called Tiangong Ultra is developed by the Beijing Innovation Center of Human Robotics.
A milestone performance
“I don't want to boast, but I think no other robotics companies in the West have sporting successes,” Tang Jian, head of the company behind the winner, was quoted by Reuters.

It is a state -supported company in which the Chinese electronic giant Xiaomi is also an important stakeholder. According to SCMP, the company wants to become “the Android in the field of humanoic robots”. Some change work was also carried out for the half marathon to achieve the best performance.
“We have made it easier for the robot to refine its leg design and improve its thermal conductivity and aviation systems in order to increase stability and perseverance,” said Guo Yijie, a technician for the Kung Ultra Robot, to Xinhua.
Participants and the organizers behind the unique half marathon note that the ultimate goal is to present humanoid robots in human environments. You will soon be from design laboratories to industrial environments, but the ultimate goal is to put you as a helpful assistant to the house of an average person.
