Jannik Sinner won the Australian Open for the second time in a row on Sunday, defeating Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
It was the third career Grand Slam title for Sinner, the world No. 1.
Sinner, 23, became the youngest man to win back-to-back trophies at Melbourne Park since Jim Courier in 1992 and 1993. The top seed offender also won the US Open last September, shortly after he was exonerated in a doping case that has not yet been fully resolved.
Sinner also became the first man since Nadal at the French Open in 2005 and 2006 to pursue his first Grand Slam title by repeating as champion at the same tournament a year later.
