Charlotte, NC-Daytona 500 Pole winner Chase Briscoe was dealt with a great punishment on Wednesday when Nascar said Joe Gibbs Racing had a modified spoiler on Toyota No. 19 in time procedures.
Joe Gibbs Racing was docked 100 driver/owner points and 10 playoff points. The spoiler base is a single section that cannot be changed and was discovered by NASCAR in the inspection process.
JGR was also occupied with a fine of $ 100,000 and the crew boss James Small was suspended for four races. Briscoe now goes to the Atlanta Motor Speedway with negative 67 points in the overall ranking. He fell to 39th place in the overall ranking.
Joe Gibbs Racing said that it would make an appeal and “the problem in question was caused in the assembly process when the screws to fasten the spoiler base on the top lid caused the advocated holes to be worn out due to the supplied sub-disorders.”
It is the second year in a row in which the Daytona was punished 500 pole winners: Joey Logano has an illegal glove during his qualification run in 2024.
The punishment in Briscoe marks a devastating start to his first season that drives for Gibbs. The earliest that he can move into positive points is the third race of the season on the race track in America.
In other punishments announced on Wednesday, the Motorsport team No. 34 by Todd Gilliland and the Rick -Ware Racing team from Cody Ware No. 51 were punished for additional ballast to their cars. Gilliland and goods were docked 10 driver points and their teams lost 10 ownership points.
