In one of the first college football games of the year, an established, multi-year Big Ten power in the state of Ohio competes against an upstart in Minnesota.

The Buckeyes are coming off a national championship course and their first under third year as head coach Ryan Day, while the Golden Gophers are just two years away from a Big Ten title spot and PJ Fleck is home to the Big Ten Coach of the Year award takes.

The Buckeyes are led on the offensive by freshman signal caller CJ Stroud, while Minnesota has one of the best returning running backs in the nation and ranked No. 5 in touchdowns nationwide in Mohamed Ibrahim, who led the conference in both yards and touchdowns .

8:31 pm: Morgan’s first finish to the night is good for the first time after hitting Dylan Wright for 13 yards.

8:29 pm: After the Ohio State touchdown to open the scoring, Tanner Morgan and the Golden Gopher offensive take over at their 25-yard line.

8:22 p.m .: TOUCHDOWN OHIO STATE. It takes Miyan Williams 72 yards to round off a 92-yard opening kick for the Buckeyes. Ohio State 7, Minnesota 0 with 7:22 in the first quarter.

8:21 pm: Stroud’s first attempt to really ventilate it downfield barely fails as the ball is just out of reach of Garrett Wilson to bring the second down.

8:19 p.m.: Stroud’s first pass attempt of the season is complete to Garrett Wilson, but Chris Olave is called up because of the offensive false start to finish second and eighth.

8:16 pm: Minnesota bumps off its own 44-yard line and the Buckeyes take over their own 8-yard line when fans first see Redshirt freshman quarterback CJ Stroud.

8:15 pm: Minnesota’s first pass attempt comes in second and 13th in the Ohio State Territory and Morgan is fortunate enough to be back under the middle for third place as it was almost selected.

8:14 pm: The Golden Gophers are 2-2 in third tonight, both thanks to Mohamed Ibrahim with a nice win helping Minnesota march down the field.

8:12 p.m .: Buckeye linebacker Teradja Mitchell is marked for targeting Minnesota quarterback Tanner Morgan, but upon further review, the penalty is dismissed and keeps a key Ohio State defender on the field.

8:09 pm: Minnesota receives its first third down conversion of the game after starting in the Wildcat by the 45 yard line.

8:07 pm: No surprise, and Minnesota goes with the star Mohamed Ibrahim running back on his first game of scrimmage for minimal play before Tanner Morgan scrambles and takes it over for a first down.

8:03 pm: Minnesota wins the throw and chooses to get the soccer ball on a 68 degree and rainy night in Minneapolis, but they’ll do so without one of their top recipients in Chris Autman-Bell.
