Harrison, NJ and midfielder of the US women's national team, Rose Lavelle, played their first game on Saturday in NJ/NY Gotham FCS 2-1 defeat against the league leading Kansas City Current at the Sports Illustrated Stadium.
In the 74th minute, Lavelle entered the ETC for her first competitive appearance of all kinds since December 3, 2024. Lavelle was operated on shortly after this December match and has recovered since then.
“It was the first time that I got an operation what a blessing is, but I was definitely a little naive to what that was going on,” said Lavelle after the game on Saturday. “So it was definitely much more difficult than I expected.”

Lavelle said that her recreational time bar went about what she originally expected.
“I'm healthy,” said Lavelle. “I feel good, I feel very strong. I think it is more that it will be a bit for my ankle to be 100%, but the rest of me feels good.”
Lavelle scored almost five minutes after entering the game on Saturday, when she entered her left foot and narrowly missed the frame with a shot of just outside the penalty area. For Gotham's lonely gate on the ball, she was in the meantime attributed to the midfielder Vanessa Dibernardo, midfielder of Kansas City.
“I think Rose Lavelle's profile is probably the rarest if it is a player who can basically do everything at such a high level,” said Juan Carlos Amorós, head coach of Gotham FC. “And then she does the special things on the ball that create – why we all see him sport.
“Of course you want to see goals, but these actions that you produce and how she understands the game is something completely different from everyone else and that makes them something special.”

Lavelle said her time on the sidelines forced her to look for the positive.
“Every time you spend time with the game, I always find a silver strip in it,” she said. “I think I found a lot of silver strips during this time. I think [some] This learns to learn how to be a good teammate when I can't be in the field with you, stay present, still have a voice and help people where I can. To be outside for so long has really forced me to do the 10 times. “
Lavelle entered a chaotic game that was affected by several extensive and confusing Var plugs.
The most controversial came in the 63rd minute when Gotham striker Esther González seemed. Kansas City then started the game, but referee Danielle Chesky blew the pipe to stop the action so that Var can check the goal for a possible offside.
Amorós said the communication at the moment was unclear and pointed out that Kansas City's restart should have affected any potential for checking the piece – “completely against the rules of the game,” he said.
Chesky told the pool reporter that the current defender Ellie Wheeler's “Action is not a deliberate piece per law 11.” Esther was offside at the initial cross.
“I think there are too many things that we really have to look for to protect the players and two to increase the level of the game. It has to be better,” said Amorós.
From the match on Saturday was the current midfielder of Kansas City and captain Lo'eau Labonta, who received her first etc. at the age of 32 and last week was the oldest player who debuted in the 40-year history of the program. Labonta suffered what the current head coach told ESPN with the etc. to a “small knee injury”.
Labonta joins a list of injured starters for Kansas City, which also includes striker Debinha, who is traveling with a knee injury until late summer, and defender Alana Cook, who recently tore her ACL, MCL and meniscus.
“The leadership,” said Espn undonovski, which the team misses without a labonta. “In these chaotic moments when teams bomb with balls, Lo'eau is always there to calm us down.
“She motivates us when we need it, she encourages us when we need it, she calms us down when we need it. It is obviously the pure leadership alongside the quality.”
The victory of Kansas City expanded its lead on the NWSL table almost half of the NWSL season. With the defeat, Gotham, which recently won the first Concacaf Women's Club title, is located outside the NWSL playoff line.
