When does the Showtime app officially end?

The streaming service started in July 2015 and after around nine years the platform is going out of business. The premium network will officially end its standalone service on April 30. According to the message on the website “Current Showtime streaming subscribers will continue to have access to the Showtime streaming service until it is discontinued on April 30, 2024.”

Paramount's Global, the network's parent company, had originally planned to phase out the network's solo streaming app at the end of last year.

The closure follows Paramount+'s integration with Showtime. The union debuted in summer 2023, including an ad-free package for $11.99. Showtime's standalone service cost $2 less at $9.99.

@mannysolo joked: “I was about to go fake crazy, but I don't even have showtime…”

Some Roomies weren't too worried about the app being shut down.

“As long as it’s not STARZ” @_joooo wrote.

Several housemates were concerned about how they would view producer and writer Lena Waithe's show, The Chi.

@jalonclarkk asked: “What happens to the chi?”

@loammirichardson added: “So will the Chi release their final episodes now?”

Roommate, @tyronda0414, understood the integration of the networks, wrote, “Makes sense that they would merge with Paramount.”

@iamkingtyree agreed and wrote: “Best idea of the year.”

The company took advantage of Warner Bros.'s Discovery strategy, which united HBO and Max. After HBO Max launched, the HBO Go and HBO Now apps were discontinued.

If you are a Showtime subscriber and want to continue watching your shows, make this switch!
