From Flushing, Queens to Max, HBO.
The nanny is finally on her way to a streaming service, and it will be HBO Max wearing red from April 1st while everyone else is in tan. The news was practically buried in a press release from the streamer filled to the brim with what you’ve got to watch next month. Kate Winslet in the mare of Easttown? Space Jam? The fourth season of The Great Pottery Throwdown? We’ll be excited to get it all, but only after we’ve seen all six seasons of The Nanny.
In case you weren’t there from 1993 to 1999 and haven’t heard the theme song, The Nanny starred Fran Drescher as a fashionista who shows up on the doorstep of the very chic Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy) after being kicked out of her wedding salon job by her boyfriend. She surprisingly becomes the nanny for Mr. Sheffield’s three children.
As the song says, “Who would have thought the girl we described was exactly what the doctor prescribed?”
