A ride in a robotaxi – only you and a machine at the wheel. Tempting? Frightening? I haven't taken one yet, so I can easily imagine that I nod calmly on the outside, while my inner rear seat driver screams silently in every unexpected turn.
If you also hesitate about the new technology, you are not alone: According to one with/JD power survey, 83% more safety data would like to take the jump and 86% want to take over the steering wheel -if Tech changes a wrong curve.
It didn't help that the year with the history of a technology entrepreneur in Phoenix, Arizona, almost lacked after his robotaxi experienced a breakdown and looked around for a parking space 8 times.
However, the general trust of consumers has increased steadily in the technology in recent years and has coincided with increasing number of security studies. And of course the US market executives such as Alphabet's Waymo, Amazon's Zoox and soon Teslas Robotaxis are increasingly using automated bikes on the city's streets.
Waymo
Waymo only received approval last week to further expand his business around the San Francisco peninsula, including San Jose. With a fleet of over 1,500 vehicles that already work in California, Arizona, Texas and Florida, the company is the undisputed Robotaxi guide in the USA and delivers over 250,000 trips a week.

For Waymo, as with most other manufacturers of robotaxis, the security of using expensive navigation technology: Waymo's vehicles are based on pre -placed roads, sensors, cameras, radar and lidar (a laser lightradar). This largely explains why Waymo was able to get an early nod from security regulators and to take the leadership on the US market.
Tesla
Tesla, who is launched its own robotaxis in Austin, Texas in June, has chosen a different, cheaper approach: the self-driving technology is based on several on-board cameras to feed AI-machine-learning models, which in turn help the car make decisions. So far, this technology has been investigated by the supervisory authorities.
In this phase of the game, the car manufacturers continue to test various mixtures of navigation technology, and finally the results have to speak for themselves. However, it is interesting to determine that Ashok Elluswamy, just one month before the start of his own robotaxis, Teslas Head of Autopilot and AI software, stammered: “Technically speaking, Waymo already appears,” said Elluswamy during an interview with an Indian podcaster. “We may be delayed for a few years.”
Zamx
Zoox, the self -driving unit of Amazon, also made headlines last week and announced that it will soon start testing self -driving cars in Atlanta. The fleet will consist of retrofitted SUVs with operators of human security that mark the seventh test site of the company.
When you enter a zoox, you will first notice the lack of a steering wheel and then the seat arrangement: four individual seats that are arranged in a symmetrical configuration-two seats on each side without a conventional front or back.
According to the company, this setup promotes a lounge-like atmosphere that promotes the conversation between the passengers and eliminates the hierarchy, which is often connected to front and rear seats in conventional vehicles. Each seat offers the same space, comfort and access to functions to ensure that no passenger is prioritized. In your personal seat you will find amenities such as cup eggs, wireless charging baths and touchscreens with which you can control music, climate settings and lighting.

In other Robotaxi messages, Uber has announced the hail-riding app company Uber that in collaboration with 18 technology companies it is launching driverless taxi services in Great Britain to equip vehicles with radar, several cameras and AI-powered software. In Great Britain, however, the government is not yet ready to meet the back seat and would like to further tests with human drivers present. The expected start was pushed back to 2027.
