Like father, like son.
Tiger Woods has the chance to play golf with 11-year-old son Charlie this weekend at the PNC Championship, an annual father-son pairing event. It’s the first year Charlie has played with Tiger at the event, and the boy wasted no time playing a precise shot to set up an eagle for mating.
On the par 5 third hole at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, Charlie was standing over the second shot with a tree line right in front of him. It would take a tie to find the green behind the trees. Charlie took out his 5 wood and let it fly. The ball trickled within two feet of the hole.

As it turned out, the scramble format allowed the Woods duo to use Charlie’s ball for all three hits on the third hole. Charlie played from closer tees and sent his drive down the left side of the fairway. Then he chose the 5 wood on the green. And Charlie putted to finish off the eagle too, essentially putting the score together himself.
Tiger smiled broadly after Charlie finished off the eagle, and you can hear him say to his son, “This is your first eagle!”
Father and son Woods played in matching purple shirts with black shorts, and the Eagle pushed them through three holes to 3 under par. They made it into the top 10 of the tournament for much of Saturday, with the second and final round scheduled for Sunday was. We hope that Tiger and Charlie Woods Tiger’s “Sunday Red” break out.
