Fast Forward until 2017, when Sherrie found out that the woman she still couldn't believe her, her sister in Warsaw, Mo, died of cancer Judy Veloz.
When Veloz, who was now retiring, said on the ID show, she went to Warsaw and sat down with Mary, who was 90 minutes in the hospice.
She still didn't remember the blows, said Veloz and “didn't know exactly when or how” she left the house in Seaside in 1981. But she said that she had been accepted by “an older lady”. called Bj Ward in Salinas.
Mary died nine days after her interview, said Veloz.
She said 48 hours in 2020 that she was “100 percent convinced” that the woman she spoke to was Mary Louise Day. “No question.”
Back in Seaside, Veloz said in the ID show 2025 that she turned to the BJ Ward, and BJ's friend said he thought he could have a picture of Mary in the camp.
A few weeks later, Veloz looked at the picture, she said, she recognized the missing teenager.
She called it “a real proof that Mary was not killed in 1981”, and found that the picture was taken in 1983. And so Veloz said that she had “nothing to do than close the case again”.
