Why does Antonio Brown dwell with Tom Brady? Inside the connection that led to a reunion of the privateers
Antonio Brown is back in the NFL after a tumultuous 2019 season in which he became unemployed after a brief stint with the Patriots.
This time around, Brown is with the Buccaneers after being asked by quarterback Tom Brady. Although coach Bruce Arians said Brady had nothing to do with Brown’s signature, the coach didn’t shy away from the quarterback wanting Brown there.
“Tom Brady got me back on, my goodness, June, July, August,” Arians told NBC Sports.
Arians said no at the time because he felt the team didn’t need Brown. Fast forward to week 9 and Brown is now about to start his first game with the Bucs. So what has changed? Arians say injuries played a big part. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Scotty Miller (the top three recipients of the Bucs) have all been injured at some point this season. The team is also OJ Howard with no end for the rest of the season.
And while Arians may not want to admit it, Brady’s presence undoubtedly played a role in Brown’s arrival in Tampa Bay. We’ll go into the reasons below.
Antonio Brown lives with Tom Brady
Antonio Brown lived with Tom Brady during his brief stint with the Patriots, and the recipient is again working with the quarterback in Tampa Bay. In New England, Brady Brown opened his home so he could settle down while moving to a new city.
While the news got a lot of attention, Brady downplayed the importance when asked about it.
“Anyone is welcome to stay over my house. I’ve had a lot of people in and out of season,” Brady said. “Teammates are important to me. That’s part of what makes football so special, the relationships you build with the guys you play with. This year is no different. “
Now that the two are teammates again, Brady welcomed Brown back to his home. Again Brady offered a similar explanation.
“He’s just settled down and I know he’s looking for places,” Brady said. “It’s nice to have him with you. It’s a big transition for him to move around the state without knowing anyone. I’m just trying to be a good teammate and help someone.”
Antonio Brown’s relationship with Tom Brady
Brady and Brown as roommates are not the end of their relationship. Brown credits Brady for helping him “see the light,” in part because Brady introduced the recipient to Tony Robbins. Robbins is a motivational speaker, and he appears to have helped Brown solve some of the problems that have plagued him in the past.
“Tom connected me to him a few months ago [and] He was a great addition to me, “said Brown of Robbins.” We work on myself, release some positive things in my mind, and are just a better person. [I’ve spent] lots of time to sit with him, develop some positive things in me, change my attitude about a few things, struggle and let go of anger and just be able to stay positive and see the positives of things – not to let my emotions or frustrations ruin my outlook on what lies ahead of me. “
Brown added, “I really thank Tony Robbins and TB12 for bringing me together with great people who can align me with my purpose and help me see the light on my future.”
As for Brown’s future on the Bucs, it’s really up to him. Arians gave him a simple message when the team signed him, according to Fox Sports, “Be a team player or be gone.”
