Social media reacts to Carl Nassib’s announcement that he is homosexual

Carl Nassib, the defensive end of the Las Vegas Raiders, became the first active NFL player to announce he was gay on Monday. Announced on Instagram, Nassib said, “I’ve wanted to do this for a while, but I’m finally comfortable enough to get it off my chest.”

Raiders owner Mark Davis told ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez after Nassib’s announcement, “It’s 2021, so all the more power for Carl. It doesn’t change my opinion of him as a person or as a raider. “

Shortly thereafter, players and teams from across the sporting arena began to agree with their support from Nassib. Reactions ranged from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to Jason Collins, who became the NBA’s first openly gay player in 2014.

Great moment. Spread the love for the @TrevorProject very classy move. ❤️ https://t.co/pOWGsvRMUW

China is upgrading UN safety for the Nice Barrier Reef – with that?

Guest contribution by Eric Worrall

h / t Dr. Willie Soon, JoNova; China’s continued efforts to punish Australia for defying its territorial ambitions in the South China Sea have now allegedly extended to the addition of the UN Heritage Committee.

Secret Chinese conspiracy to declare the Great Barrier Reef ecologically “endangered” threatens to steal 6 billion US dollars from the Australian economy and destroy 60,000 jobs

  • China’s secret trick could lead to the Great Barrier Reef being officially classified as “in danger”
  • Beijing is setting up a UN committee to downgrade the health of the reef
  • A change of status could threaten 64,000 local jobs and ruin the $ 6.4 billion economy
  • The controversial decision is expected to be ratified by the World Heritage Committee

BY LEVI PARSONS FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA

RELEASED: 01:29 AEST, June 22, 2021 | UPDATED: 02:10 AEST, June 22, 2021

A secret move by China to declare Australia’s Great Barrier Reef “in danger” could paralyze the multi-billion dollar tourism industry of the Far North and affect over 64,000 local jobs.

Beijing, with a committee of the United Nations chaired by China, has planned to downgrade the ecological health status of the world-famous coral reef in order to bypass the normal channels of the World Heritage Committee.

It did so without adequate scientific scrutiny or consolation, it is alleged, with any downgrade likely to threaten tourism and jobs.

The trick took Australian government officials by surprise, who first learned of the secret plan on Friday, The Australian reported.

Read more: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9708963/Beijing-threatens-destroy-Great-Barrier-Reef-economy-Chinese-plot.html

Obviously, this alleged abuse has far-reaching implications. If the United Nations is ever given greater powers to monitor global carbon emissions, or if there is any other transfer of sovereignty to the United Nations, I think we now have a good indication of who will exercise these new UN powers.

Christina Haack and Ant Anstead Finalize Divorce 9 Months After Cut up

Earlier this month, Christina pulled back the curtains on her private life and opened up about being single in an interview with E! News.

“I believe that everyone deserves to have love and find love and I hope that happens for me,” she shared. “But it would take a really special someone and my goal right now is just to focus on my kids and keeping my private life, as private as it can possibly be.”

She also kept it real about her life as a working mom, as she raises her three kids: Hudson, Taylor, 10, and Brayden, 5, who she shares with her ex, Tarek El Moussa.

“I mean, balancing is something that everyone struggles with—so do I,” she admitted. “I just try to do the best I can. When I get off work, I don’t have a nanny for Taylor and Brayden, so I just try to make sure that I’m there to pick them up and take them to sports and spend time with the three kids and put my phone down.”

She added, “Something I did was getting off social media for a while and I feel like that is a big distraction. My kids do not like me being on my phone, so I feel like that’s setting an example for them. When I get home, I make sure my focus is on them and when I’m at work, my focus is work.”

Raiders, Saquon Barkley, NFL Twitter reacts to Carl Nassib’s coming: “Happy with you, Carl”

The defensive end of the Raiders Carl Nassib was the first active NFL player to come out as gay on Monday night.

Nassib posted the announcement on Instagram and also said he would donate $ 100,000 to The Trevor Project, an organization focused on suicide prevention in the LGBTQ + community.

News of Nassib’s announcement quickly spread across the NFL and was quickly received with positive news from players, teams and executives. This included some warm comments from Raiders owner Mark Davis.

“It’s 2021,” said Davis, according to ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez. “All the more power for Carl. It doesn’t change my opinion of him as a person or as a raider. “

MORE: Derek Carr says he’d rather quit football than play with any team other than the Raiders

The NFL also released an official statement saying it was “proud” of him.

“The NFL family is proud of Carl for bravely sharing his truth today,” the statement said. “Representation is important. We share his hope that statements like his will one day be no longer newsworthy as we move towards full equality for the LGBTQ + community. We wish Carl the best of luck for the season ahead.”

Here are some of the other Twitter messages that Nassib endorsed, including posts from the Raiders, the NFL, and Nassib’s former college teammate Saquon Barkley.

Congratulations to Carl Nassib on getting out, this is a big step. I think most players are concerned about whether or not they can play.

– Shawne Merriman (@shawnemerriman) June 21, 2021

Carl Nassib’s announcement on his IG page contained this notice, which was particularly persuasive, especially to those who might get this message with “What’s the big deal / why is it important?” pic.twitter.com/o1lQLoSqSa

– Mike Golic Jr (@mikegolicjr) June 21, 2021

Anyone who thinks this wouldn’t have happened in the old days of the NFL should probably google Harold Lombardi. Vince’s brother, who was gay, and Vince Lombardi more than once told his players that if he heard homophobic slurs from them, they would be out.

– Doug Farrar (@NFL_DougFarrar) June 21, 2021

Kudos to Carl Nassib. That must be tough. Holds something like that for so long.

– Crocky⚡️ (@eric_crocker) June 21, 2021

Good for you Carl Nassib !! Live your truth, brother.

– Ryan Clark (@ Realrclark25) June 21, 2021

Even so, at least one player doesn’t want people to forget about Michael Sam, another NFL-level trailblazer.

Michael Sam don’t let Carl Nassib steal your shine you were here first

– Charles James II (@CJDeuce_) June 21, 2021

Sam came out gay ahead of the 2014 NFL Draft and was selected by the Rams in the seventh round. As a rookie, however, he didn’t make it into the team’s 53-man roster, so he was never on an active NFL roster.

Supermassive Black Gap Winds Had been Already Blowing Much less Than a Billion Years After the Massive Bang

At the heart of most galaxies is a supermassive black hole. These beasts of gravity can play a crucial role in the formation and evolution of their galaxy. But astronomers still don’t fully understand when the influence of black holes becomes significant. Did large black holes form early in the universe, causing galaxies to form around them? Or did black holes grow after its primordial galaxy had begun to form? You might call this the chicken or egg problem. But a recent study suggests that galaxies and their supermassive black holes can have a mutual interaction that allows them to co-evolve.

Galaxies can feed their black hole by amassing gas and dust in the central region. In turn, as the black hole consumes this matter, it can heat the material, which works to clear gas and dust from star-forming regions. One of the ways this occurs is through the production of a galactic wind. Just as the Sun’s intense heat creates a stream of ionized particles known as the solar wind, the intense heat of material near a black hole can create an ionized wind on a galactic scale.

M82 is a starburst galaxy with strong galactic winds. Credit: Adam Block/Mount Lemmon SkyCenter/University of Arizona

Previous studies have shown that the galactic wind of a black hole is effective in clearing gas from the galaxy. This can dampen the growth of galaxies since the more gas a galaxy has in its central region, the more active the black hole and the more strongly gas is cleared. Astronomers have generally thought galactic winds form relatively late in the game, once a galaxy has entered an active period of star production, such as we see in starburst galaxies. But this latest work finds that galactic winds can form quite early in the life of a galaxy.

The work focuses on a galaxy known as J1243+0100. The galaxy is so distant that its light has traveled for 13.1 billion years. Using data from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), the team observed a flow of gas moving at 500 km/s from the galaxy. This is consistent with the flow of galactic winds in closer galaxies. The team was also able to measure the mass of the supermassive black hole, as well as the mass of its galaxy.

J1243+0100 is the youngest galaxy we’ve seen to have a galactic wind, and this suggests that active winds form early in the life of a galaxy. But perhaps more interesting is the comparison of the mass of the black hole with its galaxy. The study found that the mass ratio is roughly the same as the mass ratio of older galaxies, including that of the Milky Way. This strongly suggests a co-evolution of black holes and galaxies, such that the growth of one has a direct effect on the growth of the other. Thus, it might not be a matter of the chicken or the egg, but rather of siblings, roughly the same age, and shaped by their life together. This is just one example, so the team plans to observe several more young galaxies to see the co-evolution model is accurate.

The WHO says that the variant is the quickest, fittest and essentially the most susceptible to “put on off”

The highly contagious Delta variant is the fastest and strongest coronavirus strain to date and will “pick up” the most vulnerable people, especially in places with low Covid-19 vaccination rates, World Health Organization officials warned on Monday.

Delta, first identified in India, has the potential to be “more deadly because it is more efficient in the way it is transmitted between people and ultimately it finds the at-risk people who are critically ill, hospitalized.” must be and possibly die, “said Dr Mike Ryan, executive director of WHO’s Emergency Health Program, said during a news conference.

Ryan said world leaders and public health officials can help defend the most vulnerable by donating and distributing Covid vaccines.

“We can protect these vulnerable people, these frontline workers,” said Ryan, “and the fact that we, as general managers, didn’t [Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus] has said again and again, is a catastrophic moral failure on a global scale. “

The WHO said on Friday that Delta is becoming the predominant variant of the disease worldwide.

The agency declared Delta a “questionable variant” last month. A variant can be described as “worrying” if, according to the health organization, it has been shown to be more contagious, fatal, or more resistant to current vaccines and treatments.

Delta is now replacing Alpha, the highly contagious variant that swept Europe and later the United States earlier this year, said Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, in a recent interview.

Studies suggest it is about 60% more transmissible than alpha, which was more contagious than the original strain that emerged from Wuhan, China, in late 2019.

“We have to vaccinate now. Let everyone vaccinate now,” said Offit.

Delta has now spread to 92 countries, said Maria Van Kerkhove, WHO technical director for Covid, on Monday. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it now accounts for at least 10% of all new cases in the United States and is on its way to becoming the dominant variant in the nation.

In the UK, Delta recently became the dominant variety, outperforming its native alpha variety, which was first spotted in the country last fall. The Delta variant now accounts for more than 60% of new cases in the UK

WHO officials said there are reports that the Delta variant also causes more severe symptoms, but that more research is needed to confirm these conclusions. However, there is evidence that the Delta strain may cause different symptoms than other variants.

Neither variant has really found the combination of high transmissibility and lethality, but Delta is “the most capable, fastest, and fittest of these viruses,” WHO officials said Monday.

“This particular Delta variant is faster, it is fitter, it will weed out the more susceptible ones more efficiently than previous variants. So if people are left without vaccination, they will be even more at risk,” said Ryan.

Van Kerkhove said, “Unfortunately we still don’t have the vaccines in the right places to protect people’s lives.”

WHO has urged wealthy nations, including the US, to donate cans. The Biden government detailed early Monday where it will be sending 55 million doses of vaccine, most of which will be distributed through COVAX, the WHO-supported immunization program.

“These vaccines are highly effective against serious illness and death. That is what they are intended for and that is what they must be used for,” said Van Kerkhove. “This is what COVAX and WHO and all of our partners have worked to ensure that these vaccines reach the most vulnerable people.”

Corrupt EPA stacks CASAC panel with company grant cronies; Chair is high company grant crony – Watts Up With That?

Reposted from Junk Science

By Steve Milloy

EPA has filled the seven-seat Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee with five agency grant recipients. The CASAC chairman will be the University of Washington’s Lianne Sheppard, the top recipient of agency grants ($65+ million). In 2018, Sheppard sued the Trump administration after being excluded from being an independent EPA science advisor because she was an agency grant recipient.

The four agency grant recipients included on the “independent”CASAC board include: Michelle Bell ($29 million), James Boylan ($229,770), Judith Chow ($449,456) and Mark Frampton ($36+ million). EPA completely ignored the recommendations of JunkScience.com, instead opting for a totally corrupt and rubber-stamping CASAC.

EPA’s CASAC will now be led by someone who gets paid to do research for EPA then gets to review and rubberstamp her and her colleagues’ (also EPA grant recipients) work.

No corruption here.

Move on.

Top EPA grant grubber Lianne Sheppard is now chairman of EPA’s CASAC board of outside advisors on air quality science.

‘Wild N’ Out ‘mannequin Alyssa Scott confirms she is carrying Nick Cannon’s seventh little one on Father’s Day mail

At this point in 2021, if Nick Cannon is going to do one thing, it’s the maternity shoot.

Newly welcomed twins with DJ and on-air personality Abby De La Rosa, father of six, seems to have one more on the way with “Wild N ‘Out” model Alyssa Scott.

Alyssa apparently confirmed the rumors that Nick fathered her bun in the oven after sharing a picture from a maternity shoot with Nick Cannon as a co-star.

In the picture, the two appear in a picturesque location on a rocky mountain. A shirtless Nick is sitting behind Alyssa as he grabs her baby bump with his hands.

In her Father’s Day dedication to Nick, Alyssa wrote on the photo – which she published in her Instagram story – “celebrate yourself today,” accompanied by a heart emoji.

Rumors of Alyssa Scott being the mother of Nick’s seventh child began back in May when Alyssa posted a picture of her growing pregnant belly and revealed that her baby was named Zen S. Cannon.

When asked directly if Nick Cannon was the father of her unborn baby, Alyssa said:

Nick’s allegedly seventh child set social media on fire, and it was clear that the rumors reached his last ex-girlfriend LaNisha (remember they just spent Valentine’s Day together) who decided to address the situation.

Nick hasn’t spoken publicly about his alleged seed, but social media did a lot of it for him on Sunday.

“The same Nick Cannon who just had twins?” Asked a roommate.

“I’m starting to think he’s just a model in the pregnancy pictures, that’s unbelievable,” commented another.

“He’s (finger pinched emoji) close to having a show on TLC,” added another.

What do you think of Nick’s supposedly seventh child? Let us know!

Greater than 1 billion doses administered

GUANGZHOU, China — China has administered more than a billion doses of its Covid-19 vaccines, a key milestone in the world’s largest inoculation drive.

As of Saturday, 1,010,489,000 doses had been given to people in China, according to the country’s National Health Commission (NHC). More than 100 million doses had been administered in the six days up to and including Saturday.

It’s unclear how many people have been full inoculated as the government does not release those numbers. But Zhong Nanshan, one of China’s top health experts attached to the NHC, said in March that the country is aiming to have 40% of the population fully vaccinated by the end of June.

After the outbreak of the coronavirus in China last year, authorities moved to quickly bring it under control and largely succeeded in reopening the economy and returning life to normal. One reason behind the slow start to China’s vaccination drive earlier this year was that people did not see the urgency for getting inoculated.

But the campaign has since ramped up. It took China 25 days to climb from 100 million doses to 200 million doses — and just six days from 800 million to 900 million, according to state-run media Xinhua.

Still, new coronavirus outbreaks have happened in the country over the past year. Since late May, the major city of Guangzhou in the south of China has been battling the delta variant, which first emerged in India. It is the first time that variant has seen local transmission in mainland China.

The city reported zero new locally transmitted cases on Sunday following a mass testing drive and local lockdowns.

CNBC two visited vaccination sites in the city earlier this month and saw long lines as people rushed to get vaccinated.

The World Health Organization has approved for emergency use the Chinese-made Sinopharm since May, and Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines since June.

China has been shipping its vaccines to countries around the world including Brazil, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. However, U.S. and European health authorities have not authorized any Chinese vaccines for emergency use.

There have been questions over the effectiveness of the China-made vaccines. Efficacy rates for China’s Covid vaccines have been found to be lower than those developed by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.

Chile, another recipient of Chinese vaccines, released the results of a real-world study of over 10 million people in April. It found that the Sinovac vaccine reduces deaths by 80%. However, despite being one of the world’s most highly vaccinated countries, Chile saw cases surge in April.
