A dog named Bunny has people in her feelings, and it’s all because of some messages that the pet communicated using special buttons.
The run down on @WhatAboutBunny
People may have seen Bunny through some of the many viral videos posted to the @whataboutbunny TikTok account over the years. Many of these happily show Bunny using special buttons on the floor to communicate messages, which her owners have taught her to do.
Through these videos, the Sheepadoodle has garnered over 8 million TikTok followers and has been featured on Buzzfeed and The New York Times.

When we first started learning with pronouns, Bunny kept experimenting until she got it right. She’s a tough little pony. #pronouns #grammar #smartdog #andGO

This method of communication is known as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), which according to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association means “all types of communication besides speech.”
However, some of these uploads have attracted waves of attention lately, as they appear to show Bunny using the buttons to express existential angst and confusion. In one video, she repeatedly signals “concern” and “great sadness” while asking about fluoxetine, which is used to treat generalized anxiety disorder.

I never quite figured out how to answer this question #cutedog #existentialcrisis #bunnythedog #funnydog

Buns has been taking fluoxetine for GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) since early 2022. When I give it to her, I say, “This is sad for everyone and worrying for everyone.” It’s been tremendously helpful when combined with our management and behavior change plans, and this clip seems to show that Buns also understands how helpful it’s been #mentalhealthishealth #anxiety #depression #smartdog

Twitter users react with concern
While Bunny is already well known on TikTok, a user on Twitter drew attention to the fact that the dog is going through an “existential crisis,” and tons of new users were complaining about the situation.
Do you all remember the dog on Tiktok that was trained to communicate with those buttons?
Now with antidepressants and an existential crisis, why the hell ask the dog why is it a dog………… pic.twitter.com/9n1wL4S4o2

Some said they felt sorry for the “sentient dog” as they believe it is self-aware enough to understand its own reality.
I feel so bad for this sentient dog from tiktok who takes antidepressants and keeps asking why she is a dog and when is she going to die. she looked in the mirror and said “who that” with her voice buttons i literally can’t stop screaming????

Anime stans will appreciate (or be appalled) that Bunny is compared to Nina from Full Metal Alchemist. IYKYK.

There was also some disagreement about the story, as some believed that Bunny took antidepressants after he learned to communicate. However, others chimed in to share that the dog had previously been on antidepressants, although the situation was still strange to some.
She’s a dog who found out that the other dog in the mirror is actually her, and she probably wants to know why she looks that way instead of like her mother who is so crazy.

I read that the bitch was already on antidepressants and they made the buttons for her to try and understand her feelings

I know this is true but restrained nuts if you just sit back and think about it

While Bunny’s owners were teaching her how to communicate, one user even hypothesized that the dog may have had a memory of being a person in her past life.
Okay, here’s a theory… what if the dog was a human in his past life and now that they’ve taught him words, he remembers that he used to be human, but he can’t get out of his dog life come out so he sadly asks why he’s a dog
